Cat Treats

I hope this is the right forum for this thread. If not, I apologize in advance. I was wondering what everyone uses for cat treats, if any.

I have one cat that will refuse any treat but loves fresh cat grass and catnip. Every night the other 3 line up for a treat. Usually they each will get 5 pieces of Feline Greenies. Sometimes they will get tired of them and I will give them a different kind of dry treat. None of them like Pounce, either soft or hard. Sometimes I'll mix and match. 3 Greenies and a couple of pieces of another type of hard snack. Right now they also like Friskies Party Mix.

All of them love the cat grass and catnip. When I give them the dry treats, if I give more than 5 they will leave 1 piece. If I only give them 4 pieces they screech for the 5th piece. Go figure

Mine get Dreamies and Whiskers dental ones and if i really feel like spoiling them they get fresh prawns or Sardines which they will beg for infact if they get tinned ones im sure they know what they are by the tin itself

Mine just LOVE treats. They love Pet Greens Semi-Moist Cat Treats, EVO Wild Cravings Cat Treats and also boiled chicken breast and (when I am feeling lazy) Fancy Feast Appetizers (white meat chicken). Oh also I crumble 1 flashfrozen shrimp on their food if they are being fussy and they usually love that. This past weekend I got some wheat grass for them and Calvin loves it, and Hobbes does not really care, though he's the one with the hairball issues and I want him to have some. Catnip has NO effect on Hobbes and Calvin likes it for a very short while.

I don't really give "treats" (don't see the point?) but on occasion give a raw egg, some sardines or baby mice for a out of the norm snack if she's bugging me.

Mine get Taste of the Wild kibble as treats (a few pieces) or greenies. They both like them. Lately I've been switching their dry food to Natural Balance, so I have a few sample bags of different flavors, and that's becoming their treats.

Do they eat the baby mice?? I have a couple hundred baby and hopper mice in my freezer for my snake, if I thawed 2 out, do you think the cats would eat them??

Its so gross, but for some reason the image of thawing a feeder mouse, tying the tail to the string of a fishing pole, and tossing it across the room w/ a dull soft "thump" and reeling it in has my giggling over here... if all else fails, I bet that would work to get em interested though.

For treats, when I'm going away for work, I put the cats in a room, and strategically hide their Greenies treats which they LOVE! I imagine the egg-hunt is stimulating for em, and I've never had them not find all the pieces.

On non-work days, I just toss pieces in different places for em to chase after, high and low. They are FAST little buggers!

I used to use a cheap dry as the treat food but stopped feeding dry so the treat now is tuna for ppl or my fav is throw in a chicken for the day. chicken cooked lightly or raw anything ground turkey goes well here

Worth a try, I'd warm them like you would for your snake but mine seem to think they are candy. She goes nuts for mice in general.

When my cats get treats, which is rare, they are given freeze dried meat.

Btw, please do not warm up the mice in the microwave. Lukewarm water is about the hottest you should go, IMO, because you do not want to cook the bones!

You can't warm up mice in the microwave anyways....the mice explode

I always just let mine thaw out on a piece of papertowel then run it under hot water...

hahahaha Ducman67, that's hilarious

The feeder mouse grosses me out but makes me laugh too I can just see all 4 of mine chasing that mouse. I've never hidden their treats like a hide and seek game but think I'll try it tonight. I'm always looking for ways to play with them and what better way to get them involved in a "game" than reward them at the end? Thanks for the idea.

I am a mouse lover, but the thought of reeling a feeder mouse across the living room and a kitty chasing it has me laughing too. XD

My kitty is lazy as can be, but when I pull out the bag of Temptations he goes nuts. I got a free sample at Walmart, and he went crazed for them. So now I keep a bag in my purse for road trips.
