Okay most cats head butt when they are loving... is there a way to teach them to not be so hard? Joey is nice about it minus the occasional whisker in the eye or nose. Google rams you with his head... usually in the nose or eye or temple... And he isnt a small cat... he is 14lbs and he hurts!

Sorry I mostly just wanted to share and see if anyone else had this problem!

Oh my goodness, ouchie!
My cats aren't very large so I guess I am lucky I'll never feel the hurt.

I have 3 hard headbutters, Shadey, Osiris who is the worst, and LP. I'm surprised I have never ended up with a bloody nose.

Surprisingly so, Magilla who is only six pounds and was feral three months ago, gives me the roughest head bumps and sometimes will throw in a nip
I think it is very sweet and she is just telling me how much she loves
me. I don't know how you would teach them not to bump too hard.

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
I have NO idea, but if someone comes up with one....

We have four headbumpers of the 8.

Lazlo is just a complete spaz, and since he bumps our arms or legs, it doesn't matter that he bumps hard.

Chumley is becoming a bumper... but it's more of a rub.

Billy is a total headbumper - but he does it while moving his head like a rub, and he usually falls short of actually touching us and it is SO CUTE and COMPLTELY hysterical!

Tuxedo, on the other hand... sounds like Google. He weighs 12 pounds, but really "packs a punch" so to speak! He's got a really hard forehead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And he usually blams us on our foreheads. I don't think I've ever actually gotten a bruise though.

Nuh uh...might give me away!
We have to large boys: Scotty at 17lbs and Oscar at 15lbs. Both are headbutters, and though Scotty tends to headbutt us a bit harder than Oscar, he typically does it to our chin. Oscar will just whack you wherever he can reach.

The funny thing about Oscar is, it doesn't matter if he's just headbutted you...he will do it again if you get close enough. We call him Magnet Head, lololol. Scotty has to be in the mood.

And sometimes, Oscar is really sweet and just gently nuzzles. Those are my favorites.

I'll trade you a head-butt for a butt-butt!!!!

Chynna
was my little head-butter. Abby has always had this thing about presenting her back side to me instead of her head. So when she butts me it's with her butt! Literally! Well, more her hip than butt, but it amounts to the same IMHO!

Katie is into head-butting, but more my hand than my head.

Haha glad to know I'm not the only one with this problem! I think part of the reason it hurts so much with Google is he does it while he is moving. He will either run up to you with his head down, or jump into it... I think he's part goat!
