cat is peeing on things

I'm concerned about one of my babies because he is peeing on things. He has done it before when he was nervous, but it's different lately. When he was nervous he peed a large amount. Now he is only dribbling a few drops, almost as though it wasn't intentional... he just didn't have control. I'm not sure. He is eating and drinking fine. He is playing more than normal actually and is as lovey as ever. I'm not sure if it's just him getting older (he is 13) or something I should really be worrying about. Has anyone experienced anything similar or have any information about this?

I'd appreciate any feedback!

Welcome to TCS!

Unfortunately we're unable to diagnose problems via the internet. At his age, I'd be concerned about any of a number of health issues. I suggest you make a vet appt ASAP to give him a full work-up, at his age a full blood panel would be advised.

Is he urinating in the litterbox? Or is he going in & out of the box frequently w/o peeing much? If so he may have a urinary blockage, which can be fatal if not treated right away.

I agree with white cat lover. At best, it could be a UTI, and besides cleanliness of the litterbox that's the first thing I think of when a cat suddenly starts going outside the litterbox.
It's best to take him in to get checked out to get treatment if it is a UTI and to check and make sure it's not something worse. We can certainly offer support and advice, but we can't really tell what's wrong with your kitty.

Small amounts of urine usually indicate a urinary tract problem of some kind. He has pain and irritation and it feels like he has to go all the time so he's always trying to squeeze some out.

This can turn fatal in a male cat very quickly, as males are prone to blockage. Please get him to the vet without delay.
