Work Less = Make More - Page 2

I don't believe if you are able to work that you should sit on welfare and at all possible families should help one another when on lean times but there are times when you cannot work. Six of my dad's siblins were born blind at a time when they didn't offer alot for blind children and the three remaining either alive or out of the nursing home draw a measley $500 a month and the government tries to cut them off when one of them passes well they did cut my aunts off when dad's brother died why is that fair. When a girl I know laid up and had 5 kids she knew she could not afford and she is given in excess of 600 a month in food stamps and her husband works and she somehow buys 2 cartons of cigs a week and my sister whose husband is in afghanistan has to scrape together money to buy a pack of mac and cheese and I give her money for her cigs. Or the guy I know who works under the table and hides it when reported draws a check because he had one seizure in his life and he works in construction making morein one week than I do in a month. Its so screwed up.

I've been working on getting my disability started for a while now, no dice, its really not as easy as you might think.
As for 'seeing' people who you think don't need it, think again.
There are MANY disabilities that one cannot see.
I have COPD (my husband has asperger's), and along with COPD comes allergies.
I work in hospitalities (when I'm lucky enough to have work that is), I'm hard pressed to find a job that will work with me on my allergy issues, even though I do carry a doctor's affidavit of said allergies.
I have fume allergies to pretty much all commercial grade cleaning products.
Well, guess what every aspect of hospitalities industry uses?

And currently there are no jobs in this area, none.
Gas is too expensive to even consider a commute of more than 20 miles on minimum wage.

We live in a travel trailer in my in-law's yard.

We are not on any form of welfare, we are existing solely on any and all odd jobs we can get, but those are getting fewer and farther between.

I too have worked and paid into the system since I was 16, I've never even drawn unemployment benefits.

There is rapidly approaching a time when we will have to get assistance, I would certainly hope no such afforementioned limits are set upon us.

Huh? Whats wrong with working at McDonalds or Burger King?

Its a respectable job. Most positions will be non-skilled labor, with accordingly low wages, but not everyone has the ambition, experience, or talent to be a fortune 500 CEO and a job is a job. I definitely don't look down on anyone making a living there.

I'd have no problems working at a fast food place flipping patties if thats all I could find, but you bet you're butt I'd be posting my resume inside and outside the company every week and asking for extra responsibilities! If I could work my way up to running one of their restaurants or better yet a regional manager or other higher pay specialized position that would be great.
