I will be putting my cat's pill (amitriptyline) in a gel cap. Can anyone that uses gell caps tell me what size is the best for cats? The pills fit in an empty Proviable capsule, but I am unsure what size capsule that is.

Any help is much appreciated!!

I use the size 0 capsules for everything. Coat them with a little butter to make the capsule go down easily and offer food right before or immediately after. Safe either way. Get the capsules at the Vitamin Shoppe. (They have several stores in my area.) They are also available from their website online.

For years and years we used to get our gel caps from our local pharmacies. Then suddenly they started giving people who wanted to buy gel caps a hard time. If they were for a pet we had to prove they were for a pet. Whatever the reason, it was very humiliating and upsetting. So finding gel caps at the Vitamin Shoppe was a real blessing. Hopefully pharmacies are not doing the same thing any more and getting gel caps from them is as easy and simple as it should be and always was in the past.

so gel caps you can get at a health food store are ok to give to cats? ive never given cats anything the vet hasnt given me but my vet told me to give my cat pumpkin except my cat refuses to take it. so i thought i could stick some in a capsule and dose her that way. i already have some that i use to make herbal supplements for myself to save money.
