Holland and I have the house to ourselves this weekend.
My mom took my nephew to DC for his spring break (my nephew is a history geek, at 10 years old...
) and my sister & BIL took the girls & the dog to the family cabin. Holland is thoroughly enjoying having the run of the place without being afraid.

My beautiful girl:

Enjoying the sunshine:

Having the whole house doesn't have to mean we miss our naptime:

A couple of bird spottings:

Queen of the couch:

Bay window, the purrfect kitty ledge:

My love:

Hope everyone else is having just as great a weekend!

Awww! Can't get enough of our Holland! That's wonderful she's all over the house, because now she's get her scent everywhere and may be more willing to venture up when you are up there at other times.

Thanks for sharing her with us, I LOVE Holland!

She's been getting better. I think she can hear my voice the minute I walk in the door after work, because I usually say hi to my family and then go downstairs to see Holland and the last couple of weeks I've opened the basement door to her sitting on the top step.

I'm just really glad it's almost summer, because the girls & the dog go to bed at 8:00 and she has been coming upstairs with me regularly between 8:00 & 9:00. She's actually been better around the girls too, but the dog seems to still think she's prey.
I'd put in more time and effort between the two of them if I wasn't planning on moving out in a few months.

Almost summer eh? Not here it isn't. We've got an ice storm coming in overnight and tomorrow. Happy Spring!

We'll still get plenty more snow here, I think April is typically our snowiest month. It's more the fact that it stays light later, and I hate that Holland is in the basement during the light hours...

Ugh, my heart is so torn right now. My sis, BIL, nieces & the dog got home mid-afternoon, and Holland retreated to the basement. My younger niece Hannah did come down after a while, and Holland let Hannah pet her for a good few minutes...

I played some Wii with Hannah, we had dinner, and I've been down here with Holland since around 8:00 this evening, and she is being a TOTAL lovebug, purr-monkey, cuddly lap monster. I love it, and it's not COMPLETELY out of character for her, but it just makes me so sad to feel like I can't give her everything she needs right now. She is normally very playful at night, and the fact that she was sacked out on my lap for hours was wonderful, but a little weird.

I know she considers the basement "her" territory, as I found her down here in her bed a few times this weekend even though she had the run of the house. I'm sure I'm just being overly worried, and I hate that I have to leave her to go to work tomorrow...
My priorities at the moment are to save enough money to move out of my mom's house, and to adopt another kitty so Holland has someone to play with when I'm at work all day. But then on nights like these where she's on my lap stealing my entire heart, I can't help but wonder if I can love another cat the same way I love Holland?

Eh, it's late and I have to get to bed. I love this place for being able to vent my crazy talk...

Aww, I know how you feel about being able to love another cat when you're so bonded to one. I felt the same way with Genever, but I also really wanted to get another cat to keep her company, and just cos I thought we should have another cat.

Am I as attached to Dorothy as I am to Genever? Nope. But Dot is so awesome, and I do love her so much, and even just after about 2 months of having here here, it's hard to remember life without her. It doesn't mean I don't love Genever just as much. I think Genever is that special bond cat to me that only comes around maybe once in a lifetime. But BF and I still have room for Dot in our hearts too, and we wouldn't have it any other way.

So.. basically I guess my point is, once you're moved out and ready, go save another kitty!
Even though Holland fills your heart to the brim, you'll find there's still room for that other special kitty out there.
