That's the best idea ever. In my native language, there is a very popular literature (comparable to dr. Seuss) which talks about this same issue and how at 40 you start counting down. But you do mention if your age currently is going "upwards" or "downwards".Originally Posted by LDG

I just turned 48. I didn't mind 40 at all - I'd already realized that 37 was my physical peak.
Aging hasn't ever really bothered me... I didn't change much for so long that I often find myself looking in the mirror and wondering who that is.
But Gary can't STAND birthdays, so as the life expectancy of a male in the U.S. is 75 years old, when he turned 38, he celebrated another 37, and has been counting down since then. This year he'll be turning 26.As the average life expectancy of a female in the U.S. is 80, on Gary's "countdown" calendar, I just turned 32.
He calls it the "Clearing the Cake Calendar."

That's funny! My mom did the same thing (sort of) when I turned 13. She turned back the clock every year because she had a hard time acepting me growing up, you know, being her baby and all.Originally Posted by Calvin&I

If I or a close family asks DH how old I am, he says 22. According to him I stopped aging in his eyes when I married him.
Yeah, not with that portrait in the attic.Originally Posted by LDG

Hey, I'm 20 days older than you. 1957 was a good year, huh.Originally Posted by catdaddy

Well I guess I am OK because I cry like a baby at the silliest things.Originally Posted by Mystik Spiral

Not too long ago I saw a news story about a lady who was 94 and still running. She said that she started running at 62.Originally Posted by nanner

But I run 4-5 times a week, I've lost 31 pounds over the past 6 months, and I look at every day as a challenge, and most of my friends who are my age feel the same way. 62 is different than it was 30, 40, 50 years ago. I think of myself as being in my 30's, but having whatever knowledge and experience that I have that has come with being around for 62 1/2 years.

To keep in shape she had a little stationary bicycle and on cold days she runs in the hall way of her apartment building.
After seeing her I said to myself "I don't remember the last time I could run but I hope I can still walk at 62".
Right behind you...turning 30 in December. I don't mind though because it gives me an excuse to go on a wicked trip!Originally Posted by Kailie

Must be all that clean, fresh, revitalizing (and frigid!) Wisconsin air that keeps us "looking" young, eh Gail? Most people are surprised when they learn that I'm 52.Originally Posted by GailC

One thought I was in my mid 30's. Ah youth...............
