You guys are cracking me up!

I just turned 48. I didn't mind 40 at all - I'd already realized that 37 was my physical peak.

Aging hasn't ever really bothered me... I didn't change much for so long that I often find myself looking in the mirror and wondering who that is.

But Gary can't STAND birthdays, so as the life expectancy of a male in the U.S. is 75 years old, when he turned 38, he celebrated another 37, and has been counting down since then.
This year he'll be turning 26.
As the average life expectancy of a female in the U.S. is 80, on Gary's "countdown" calendar, I just turned 32.

He calls it the "Clearing the Cake Calendar."

That's the best idea ever. In my native language, there is a very popular literature (comparable to dr. Seuss) which talks about this same issue and how at 40 you start counting down. But you do mention if your age currently is going "upwards" or "downwards".

If I or a close family asks DH how old I am, he says 22. According to him I stopped aging in his eyes when I married him.

That's funny! My mom did the same thing (sort of) when I turned 13. She turned back the clock every year because she had a hard time acepting me growing up, you know, being her baby and all.

Hey, I'm 20 days older than you. 1957 was a good year, huh.

Well I guess I am OK because I cry like a baby at the silliest things.

But I run 4-5 times a week, I've lost 31 pounds over the past 6 months, and I look at every day as a challenge, and most of my friends who are my age feel the same way. 62 is different than it was 30, 40, 50 years ago. I think of myself as being in my 30's, but having whatever knowledge and experience that I have that has come with being around for 62 1/2 years.
Not too long ago I saw a news story about a lady who was 94 and still running. She said that she started running at 62.

To keep in shape she had a little stationary bicycle and on cold days she runs in the hall way of her apartment building.

After seeing her I said to myself "I don't remember the last time I could run but I hope I can still walk at 62".

Aww, bless that 94 year old woman. She sounds like my mom! Mom is 94 and does 20 minutes of yoga floor exercises every morning. She's been doing that for about 40 years. She's so flexible, it's amazing. And she makes it a point to go out and walk, (even in the winter - she goes to the outside shopping center, where the sidewalks are clear) and she does some balance exercises every night. She's definitely my hero....and nobody can believe she's 94 - which is why I keep telling her she should be proud to tell people her age!

I once ran a marathon in London, and, there was a guy being interviewed by some television news guy, and the man was saying, "I'm 84 years old!" It made me think, "I want to be doing this when I'm 84!"

I'll be 54 in July! Many of my college age co-workers can't believe I'm "that old"!

One thought I was in my mid 30's. Ah youth...............

Right behind you...turning 30 in December. I don't mind though because it gives me an excuse to go on a wicked trip!

I'm 28. It's not that being 28 is a bad thing, I just often wonder what happened to all the rest of my 20's. It seems like as soon as I hit 21, the world started to spin 10 times faster. I can't believe I'm 28 years old. Where did the time go?

I'll be 29 in December and I'm dreading it! I don't even want to think about how my 30th birthday will be. I'm definitely going to be one of those people who says that they're 29 for the rest of their lives...

The good news is that no one ever looks at me and thinks I'm 28. Most of the time, people think I've just graduated high school or maybe have just turned 21 (though I still get carded for everything -- even going to an R rated movie). So, that's the silver lining. I might be 28, but I look young. Let's just hope it stays that way

Must be all that clean, fresh, revitalizing (and frigid!) Wisconsin air that keeps us "looking" young, eh Gail? Most people are surprised when they learn that I'm 52.
