I take my cats to shows four or five times a year, so the day before the show is a kitty spa day. Everybody gets a shampoo, but mostly no blow-dry. They kind of go nuts when they hear the hair dryer turn on.

Goldy: Hey, mom, isn't this stuff supposed to be edible?

Don't say it. Don't even think it. I am not a rat, drowned or otherwise!

Miss Patchwillow: Don't come near me with that loud blower thingy, I can dry myself.

We are not amused!

Shareena: Talk about a drowned rat, especially that rattail.

Shareena is the hardest to dry because she tends to climb up me. . .

. . .over the shoulder. . .

. . .and onto my back.

Continued in next post.

I don't know how to tell you this, Morgan, but you're hiding behind a see-through box.

Look at that poor little rattail.

All right, all right, the tail is coming back. Just get that blower thing out of my face.

Foofy tail is back.

Oh gosh. She looks so much like a rat.

I have a terrible fear of mice and rats. One of the problems I have when bathing my long-haired cat is seeing his foofy tail turn into rat tail. It always terrifies me and I have to immediately wrap a towel around it first.

The first time I ever bathed him, I dropped him on the floor when his wet rat tail touched me. It was a shock and my instinct was to just drop him and make it go away.

Somehow I missed Iris' picture when I was uploading to photobucket. I don't think she's thanking me for finding it.

The first picture of Morgan cracks me up. The last picture makes me smile. Morgan is simply stunning! Love the foofy tail and the smile.

Looks less like kitty spa day and more like "kitty torture day." Cute pictures though, and I bet they all looked great once dry!

I have never had to bathe my cats and hope that I never have to try. I don't think I'd survive.

Great pictures! But, poor kitties! I haven't bathed any of my cats, at least since I was nine years old.

HOWEVER, the master cat groomer is coming over on Sunday, and we will see what she wants to do. It will be interesting.

I love the beads in your hair, Goldy Cat. Are they strung on elastic?

Morgan isn't mine, unfortunately. She's at the shelter where I volunteer. I've taken her to a couple of shows hoping to get her adopted. She's generated a lot of interest, but no takers yet.

She did get 6th Best Cat from one judge last weekend.
So the current plan is the take a picture of her with her rosette and post it in the local paper as "Pet of the Week". That has worked fairly well for other animals in the past. She could use a few TCS adoption vibes.

Yes, the beads are on elastic. It's one of those hair thingies with combs on each side to hold it in place. Really easy to just flip my hair up and go.

I'm not totally crazy.
I do trim their claws before the baths.

Thanks for explaining! I know I don't read every post but I was like when did I miss this? That sounds like a great idea to get her adopted. Lots of vibes coming!

It's amazing how thin cats become when they are soaking wet

My friend's cat would chase and hiss as his tail after a bath until it got back to its normal size.
He just didn't have any idea what that thing was that was following him and why it wouldn't stop it!

I'm sure all of your kitties look ravishing all clean!

What a great way to get the interest in Morgan up! She is a gorgeous girl; I hope some people just need to know that other people think so too.
Lots of adoption for her from my two black cats!
