My cat has been to the vet's 24 hrs ago for a temperature, runny nose, not eating, drinking or bathrooming (now for 48hrs) He was given a fluids pack under the skin, an antibiotics shot and hills prescription diet a/d critical care. However there is no change. I just moved to the state and do not know the vets here. I am thinking of trying a another vet and asking for some kind of blood test panel to be done. Please could you advise me, am worried. Thanks. (My cat is male, 3 yrs, partly outdoors, has shots, is neutered, multi-cat household)

I found the text in this book spot on, but the illustrations aren't helpful at all. Good over all book

This mat caught my eye because of its size and texture, which traps fine litter rather well. It's large enough for jumbo litterboxes, which is also a plus. It's not quite as easy to clean as a...

This scoop was a freebie with some clumping litter I bought last year, and I like it so much that I've bought a second one. It's perfect for fine clumping litter, which it sifts very thoroughly....

Welcome to TCS!!! I am glad you found us, great support system here. Your poor baby... It will take more than twenty-four hours for your cat to begin to show signs of recovering. And if it is a virus, then it will have to run it's course. But......... the cat must eat/drink or you will have to get him back to the vet immediately. The Hill's A/D was the right food to send you home with. Did the vet mention about force/syringe feeding if necessary??? The A/D is easy to use for this as it is a bit thinner than most other wet food. And you can add a little water as well for syringe feeding. That would be my main concern right now, getting food and water into your cat, otherwise you must go back to the vet for more fluids.
If you feel a second opinion is in order, by all means to so. But it has only been twenty-four hours and it sounds like the vet did the necessary things. Since you are new to your area, feel free to call vets in your area and ask for references from some clients, they should not have a problem at all with that. You can ask them, of course, how long the vet has been practicing and if they are the local emergency vet as well that everyone else goes to after hours. I use a vet who is also the go-to vet for after hour emergencies in my area.
Bloodwork would not be a bad idea. But you could wait to see if the antibiotic shot takes effect in the next day or so. Just get some food into your boy today! Sorry he is sick

Where are you located? Some people have lists of vets, clinics, etc. but it helps to know where to look.

Welcome to TCS! You'll find lots of help here.
Try warming the food in the microwave for a few seconds. Warming it will enhance the aroma and encourage eating. Also, try elevating the dish on some books or something so that the kitty doesn't have to bend his head over to get to the food. If he's got a runny nose, it'll run out his nose when he bends his head down to eat and then he'll lift his head up without eating.
Try steaming him in a steamy bathroom a couple of times a day to open up his nose. Get the bathroom nice and steamy, turn the water off, and sit in the bathroom with your guy until the steam dissipates.
Also, please tell us where you are. That way someone could refer you to a vet in your area if they live nearby.
