My kittie is 15 been inside her whole life up to date on all shots, had 2 teeth taken out Feb 2010 (had full blood work panel and everything was OK), noticed a year later Feb 2011 and seems to very slowly getting worse. Would greatly appreciate if you found out what was going on. Planning on taking my Baby girl (her litter mate brother is totally fine) to the vet soon, but would love to get some research on what others have seen.

Thank you so much for you response.

Stormy and Misty
Hello and welcome to the forum. I am sorry to hear about Misty's problem. The thing to do is to take her to the vet without delay. 14 months is a long long time in the life of a senior cat. Changes can happen in weeks, blood work and teeth that were fine a year ago are likely to be very different now.

So get her in there and have things checked out. Be sure to let us know what you find out. You might want to start your own thread for Misty, because sometimes old threads get over looked.

(PS Stormy should have a check up too. He may seem fine, but dental health is largely genetic and cats hide pain. He may have some problems you don't know about.)

My cat had this. I thought it was him eating a toxic plant, but it's actual feline eosinophilia, which is common in cats and is usually due to an allergy, but sometimes FeLV exposure. My cat got a steriod shot and it cleared up in 2-3 days. :)

Thanks to your question and the resulting responses, our cat, Truffles, has seen the vet. She had a droop in the corner of her mouth that led me to the internet in search of answers.  Turns out, she somehow got an infection (something punctured the interior lip perhaps). The vet diagnosed a growth, aspirated it for a tissue sample, drained some fluid/pus, and checked out the sample for any signs of cancer or other major issues. All turned out well. She has an infection; she was given an antibiotic injection and is on antibiotics by mouth for a few days.  She and has an ointment as well, which we apply 2x day on the sore spot to help hasten healing. Everything else is fine. She'll have a follow up next week. THANKS SO MUCH.  SO GLAD I FOUND THIS SITE.
