Oh baby!

So, I had a doctor's appointment last week where they measured me and my OB looked at me and said, "Well, you're measuring ahead by quite a bit. In fact, at 39wks." Last week I 35wks and 4 days. This week I'm measuring at 41wks, and I'm just 36wks and 5 days.

That being said, I was just told today that if I went into labor, they wouldn't stop it, and that they want to do an ultrasound to check the size of the baby. If the baby is measuring large, they may induce at 39wks.

I'm not sure if I'm ready, lol. I mean, physically, I'm ready for this to be over (lots of discomfort and pain) but emotionally? Wow. Lots to take in.

I also realize that even using an US to determine size, it can be off by a couple of pounds either way.

Guess I just needed to get that off my chest, lol.

Oh you're so close anyway!!!! I know a number of diabetic moms though, and they almost always end up being induced as soon as the baby's lungs are developed.

Thanks! My mom was induced for my brother and I, but because of RH.

I'm thankful I've had a VERY healthy pregnancy and that baby and I are still doing really well. I just have a lot of things to tie up at work and here at home. I really just want to get everything done, lol. Guess the nesting instinct is kicking in.

I can't wait to tell my boss...she's having a hard time with this anyway (we've had two full-time team members quit since Dec.), but when she realizes that I will most likely be gone at the end of the month...yikes.

I can see that... you think you have (about) three weeks.... but baby really doesn't care about everything you have to do!

Awwwwwwwwwwww

What an exciting (and probably scary) time this is for you! You are sure there is just one in there, right?
Aww! Really it could be any time now! I warn people because sometimes you think you've got time and they decide to surprise you! Mine sure did! I woke up one morning; I was 37weeks and 2 days, and I decided I better sort and wash all the clothing she'd gotten at the baby showers. I was finally done with work and Christmas/New Years stuff. I had noticed something a little funny when I went to the rest room. I was thinking about it and finally decided to call my OB after lunch to ask them about it. They told me I should go any time! And I kid you not; I had my first contraction like 20 minutes later or less!! I was in PANIC mode then!! We didn't even have the car seat or the bassinet ready!! So I was washing and drying stuff like a mad woman... I even forgot to call my OB back to let them know I was in fact in labor...I just showed up at the hospital! DH came home after the baby was born to put her bassinet together and he installed the car seat the day we took her home! Crazy!! I remember sitting there when she was a few weeks old and thinking how I she wasn't supposed to be here yet...I was supposed to still be pregnant; it was my first after all! I figured I'd go over if anything! No one told me first timers can go early! She had other plans! LOL!

I hope your little one makes a safe, easy, and timely debut! Can't wait to hear the news!!

I bet you are excited and nervous at the same time. The baby might make a surprise entrance. My nephew Dylan, we thought he was going to come on April 1st well he fooled us and waited till April 2.

Careful with that. . .when one of my brother's friends was pregnant, they told her she was a month overdue and the baby was way too big and they had to take him out NOW! or else! And so they induced, and so she had a c-section (an inordinant percentage of induced births end in a c-section), and the baby was only 5 pounds and his lungs weren't fully developed. Obviously something went very wrong there, and doctors are not always right.

But then if I ever got pregnant I probably wouldn't let a doctor near me, and I plan on a home birth. . .so I'm probably biased, LOL.

Actually, the issue isn't that I'm past due, but measuring ahead of when I KNOW I'm due, lol. I know exactly when we conceived and the doctors know too. They're just worried because my mom had big babies (well, my oldest brother was 10+lbs, my other brother and I were less than 8 but she was induced for other reasons 3 weeks before her due date).

I guess what I'm most nervous about is that I was hoping for a normal, healthy pregnancy and now they're talking ultrasounds and inducement.

Maybe she'll decide to come on her own next week. lol

Oh new babies are so exciting!!

I measured SMALL with all 3 of my boys, with Dakin my oldest they told me I would be lucky if he was 6lbs but they figured he'd be closer to 5...

He was 8lbs 7oz, LOL

I hope everything goes smoothly for you

Yeah, she measured big, too. That's why they said the baby was too big and had to come out. Not sure why she measured that large when the baby was so tiny. I would have thought that with all the technology they have now, they could have a better way of telling how big the baby is besides just measuring. She had even had one of those fancy 3-D ultrasounds.

Just saying, if it doesn't feel right to you, don't let the doctors bully you into it. You know your body best .

I agree

I hope that the baby isn't too big (for your sake)

I don't know how much I trust the ultrasounds for their size prediction. When I was pregnant with Ava, she was breech and a c-section was scheduled. They opted to deliver her at 38 weeks because the ultrasound tech put her weight in the 8 lb range. She was 5 lbs 12 oz

I really hope that everything goes well for you. You're going to have your baby girl in your arms before you know it!.

Good luck! Just a warning - keep your legs shaved as you never know when it will happen. With Kev I was late and was going to be induced on February 14. I planned on getting a nice shower and leg shave on the 13th.

I went to a lacrosse game on the 11th. Got hom, went to bed and my water broke at 1 am. My husband wouldn't let me hop in the shower and shave...I was a bit self concious, but the end result was worth everything I went through (both to get pregnant - fertility- and staying pregnant).

I wish you the best of luck and a healthy baby!

Ditto to what everyone said about the ultrasounds not being entirely accurate. Of course, that being said, I'm hoping they've been accurate with me because I have been measuring exactly where I'm supposed to be each time (I had extra US's because I'm an idiot and fell down the stairs). I'm only 22 weeks(almost) though so he has a little more room in there and I think the US is more accurate at this point.

I was induced with Landon because I had pre-e, but being induced isn't scary If you trust your doctor and staff, you will be okay! They induced me at 9am, broke my water at 1pm and he was born at 8pm that night.

Good luck, everything will be okay!

Thanks everyone! I'm just going to see what the doctors say next week at my appointments (one is my regularly-scheduled check up, the other is the ultrasound). If they do recommend inducing, I'm going to go for it mostly because I'm sure they want to try and avoid a c-section if we can. Better safe than sorry, right??

In other news, supermoon had no impact on my pregnancy. I'm still pregnant.

I will keep you and the little one in my prayers for a safe and healthy delivery! You must be soo excited!!

Just got back from my first appt this week (Thursday is the ultrasound). I'm still measuring 41cm, but the doctor says that 42 would be in my ribs, so they might not be able to get an accurate measurment. They checked and I'm 40% effaced and 1cm dilated, so there is SOME progress. She's also head down and has dropped a bit.

Now, this could mean I could go into labor any moment on my own, or it could take a few more weeks.

I have 16 days left until my due date. I'm feeling pretty good about things right now.

YAY for good news!
Yay that's great news! Any nesting? I was "feeling pretty good" the day before I went into labor....then all that baby washing I was itching to do the next morning. I didn't know it was nesting till after she was born!

I think I have been nesting for weeks now. I am watching out for any abnormal bursts of energy though.

I just think she will either come on her own or they will induce. What I don't want is a c-section.

Tonight I started on her mobile. I hope to finish that and her laundry tomorrow night.
Woohoo! I was nesting for most of the second half of my pregnancy. I can't tell you how many times I rearranged his clothes. I was induced but there was a reason DS didn't come out- big head narrow pelvis. Had a c-section but it really wasn't that bad at all.

So, the growth scan ultrasound today estimates her current weight at.....9lbs, 13oz!!!!

The tech did state that it's not 100% accurate and she really seemed interested to know her real weight, lol. We did verify gender (because I was paranoid), but overall she's healthy, perfectly fine to come any day (diaphragm is already moving on its own!!), and now we just wait to hear from the doctor. *sigh*

I'll listen to what she has to say and go from there. Personally, I think Amber is probably closer to 8lbs, but that's just my gut.

I don't trust those growth ultrasounds With Landon, they said he would be around 6lb to 7lbs max. He came out at a whopping 8lbs 7oz and 21 inches long. After I delivered him, my midwife says "Oh my gosh woman, where did you put all this baby?!" LOL And he was a few days early, even!

I can't wait to see her pictures. All this baby talk is giving me baby fever!
