Bobber's final days

I sad to report that Bobber is entering her final days of life.

He still has some of an appetite and I am asking advise from those who have dealt with this for food options at this point.

She has been enjoying half and half, some wet food (but not tonite.) I've tried tunda, she had some ham tonite. Cottage cheese a no go though she had cheese this weekend.

She walks/limps quite stiffly as there is a tumor that is affecting her front leg.

As I type this she is in my lap, I picked her up as she can't jump up to the sofa I'm sure she would try but I think it would be painful. She is purring loudly but I can't determine her pain level. I don't even want to try to get her into the cat carrier for the vet at this stage either.

Any advise please would be greatly appreciated.

I'm so sorry you're at this stage with Bobber. It's so tough! As for food, whatever she'll eat is what you give her. Baby food, Fancy Feast, chicken, or something else that she likes.

GailC - I am sorry, as I do not have any advise to offer, I just wanted to tell you that you are in my prayers for Bobber, and that she is comfortable, with minimal stress and pain... vibes to you both

I'm so sorry to be reading this about Bobber. I know how horrible it is to watch your cat, when it's their last few days.

Lynxx refused to eat everything that we gave him. The very last thing he actually ate without fighting us, before the feeding tube, was a thing called CatSure, it was a drink, smelled like a vanilla milkshake. We got it at Petco. It was there in the same aisle as KMR products.

We tried can pumpkin, chicken, turkey, tuna, all the can cat foods, kitten food, treats like Greenies, baby food. Maybe 1 of those Bobber would like.

I don't have experience or advice either. Just wanted you to know you and Bobber are in my thoughts.

So sorry Bobber is in her last days and you are in my prayers. So very sad. I would feed anything you can find she will like. Even the stinkiest cheap cat food, like Whiskas or Meow mix pouches. Not the healthiest, but all cats seem to love that stuff. for you and Bobber.

In my Spooky's last days, her favorite foods were.....the stinkiest flaked fish Fancy Feast, and also Hills a/d wet food. In the final days, the a/d is easy to syringe feed without adding water (just fill up the syringe straight from the can.)

My prayers are with you and Bobber. Gosh, it's just so hard.

~~Hugs~~

Give her anything she likes, regardless of how unhealthy it might be. Eightball ate mostly treats his last few days. He told me it was his time when he even refused those.

Many to Bobber and big to you.

Oh I am so sorry to read this.....I have nothing new to offer. All the advice is good.

Is there some way your vet could visit Bobber at home? Sometimes in these cases the vet will come to you. Kitties love heat. Can you provide her with a heated kitty bed or some microwaveable heating pads?

You are in my prayers Bobber....sweet kitty.

I am planning on stopping at the vet clinic to ask of one could come to my house. One of the vets lives on my road through about 5 miles away.

She ate a little ham, very little tuna and half & half today. I know she likes ice cream so I'll stop at the local gas station and put some soft serve in a dish! She wanted to go out to the garage so we let her. I got her back in and put a pillow on the floor for her and oops she peed on it, the rug and the floor. Wasn't expecting that.

So sorry to hear this news. She might like some yoghurt or light cream cheese - many cats find those tasty and easy to eat. My thoughts are with you.

I am so sorry - I hope one of the vets will make a home visit. And, I agree - anything that might strike her fancy, no matter how 'unhealthy', is good. You and your baby are in my thoughs.

Thanks to everyone.

I've made an appt to take her in tomorrow afternoon. She is eating/drinking almost nothing. A very little ice cream with milk added. She is doing alot of open mouth breathing. But she wanted to go outside yesterday! So we let her perhaps she knows her time is short.

Anyhow I have to figure out the best way to transport her to the vet that won't stress her more. Sadly the drive home I won't have to worry. I've been crying off and on all day today-yikes I have to prep myself for tomorrow.

Gail, I'm so sorry you're having to make this decision. and the kitties send for Bobber.

Again, I'm so sorry. -hugs-

Have you thought about having a mobile vet make a home visit? I did that with Mackerel and it was so much better than doing it at the vet. She was calm and got to spend her time at home, and in the end we put her to sleep outside where she could watch the bugs and birds and feel the sunlight on her fur.

In terms of expense it wasn't too much more than euthanasia at the vet practice, really.

Oh Gail, I'm so sorry. I just read the sad news. I sure know how you're feeling: I knew when Maverick's time was close too, and I sadly recall counting down the days. It's something that I don't care to go through again...

Spend all those last precious moments loving Bobber as best as you can. I'll be praying for you to have the strength to get through the heartbreak.

Gail I'm so very sorry I have had to make this hard decision myself twice this year. Its never easy. Love Bobber and spend alot of cuddle time tonight.. It does sound like its time.. My Yowdy also hated the vetsand the carrier , but he was weak in the end and the last ride wasn't as tramatic as I had expected..
For me it sure was. I will be thinking of you tomorrow

I'll be thinking of you tomorrow, this is the absolute hardest part of sharing our lives with cats - having to let them go.
