We are gearing up for a big move to another city 3 hours away, of course our meezers are coming with us.....One meezer TT is very relaxed, Misty meezer is very, very nervous and of course will howl.every.inch. of. the.way.
I will be using something from the vet to keep Misty calm, happy of course i will reduce her stress by covering her cage, etc.
What would you do if traveling for 3 hours with a stressed out, noisy meezer??

You could also try Feliway spray.

What I found with Snickers for our long distance moves, is she needed a bigger carrier. She used to howl and howl during the drives, but finally for my last move, I got a large soft-sided dog crate to put in the back seat. She had plenty of space and mostly just slept. Also, keep the car a nice cool temperature. When I have had to move in the summer, and it was hot, and Snickers was scared, and it took a while for the car to cool down, she peed. which was totally unusual for her. Good luck!

I spray the carrier and the car with Feliway spray. Then, I turn the radio up really loud!

I was going to suggst Felieway spray as well.
Of course meezers get nervous and scared just like any other cat, but I've found them to be very adaptable as well.

Also remember, if you are freaked out (out of concern for Misty) she will pick up on that.

I will probably be moving a long distance too.. We are thinking about moving to Washington State from Nevada. It would be a 10+ hour drive for us! I'm totally worried the cats are going to have some major meltdowns! They've never been in the car for longer than an hour. Fun times!! If we don't move up to WA we will be moving back to California where we are from. So either way there will be a move in the next few months.

When i have to bring Misty to vets i keep her in the front passenger side and talk to her very calmy and let her rub my finger from time to time, that helps her chill out a bit.

As any meezer owner will tell you they could wake the dead with that howl of theirs...

Yikes!

I feel your pain 10 hours!!
Just for 3 hours i am thinking about asking my vet for "kitty prozac" Just thinking about 2 howling meezers locked in a car for 3 hours makes my head spin!

We regularly take the cats 5+ hours when we go visit my dad. They usually sleep the entire time.

That's good. Anything that helps her feel calmer.

And yes, lol. I'm owned by 2 meezers.

The joys of owning meezers the list would never end!

My fav breed, i was brought with meezers, my mother has a photo of her while she is pregnant with me on top of her HUGE belly is a meezer looking very happy.

All of our meezers were pretty even tempered expect for Salim.......he loved *his humans* esp me We would let him out from time to time and he would beat up every single cat on the block, he ruled the block!

Misty is my second nervous meezer, Cucci (red point 8 years old) who i had put to sleep last year, he was sooo sick. He was also quite nervous, Cucci was also a BIG lovebug

Maybe its due to inbreeding??
