secret handshake

As many of you know, Holland and I are living in a full house with my mom, sister, BIL, two nieces, nephew & their dog. Holland has been getting braver and braver about being around the family, though she still will not get much closer to any of them than about 3 feet away.

Last night I was upstairs watching TV with my 10yo nephew and Holland came up after she'd eaten. I was sitting at the table, and she jumped up, came over for pets and then head-butted my forehead, as she often does. My nephew (who desperately wants Holland to trust him enough to come to him for pets) was watching and said "What, is that like, your secret handshake?" It was really funny.

Aww, that's really cute! Maybe someday Holland will get up enough courage to let him in on the secret handshake..

Our orange kitty James, does that too, he'll get up on the filing cabinet so he's at head height and give anyone coming by a bunt.

Gotta love the kitty secret handshake, you just know down to your toes that they love you when they do that.

Hopefully Holland will learn to love your nephew also. Have him help feed her and such. If food comes from him, she may learn that he's not so bad.
