We brought Leiki into the vet yesterday for a check up because she has tapeworms and we needed meds for them. Since our vet has never seen her, we had to bring her in for a visit to get the meds.

She did wonderfully! She laid perfectly still on the scale so they could get her weight (4.6 kilos) and then she just laid on the table while the vet examined her. She did not like getting the thermometer stuck up her butt much, lol, but she was a good girl for that too. The vet commented on what a pretty cat she is and said she hasn't seen a cat like her before. She wasn't too happy that Leiki is declawed, but since we didn't do that she wasn't mad at us. Her teeth are perfect and she said that she's very healthy. She also said that she has a bit of the siamese "googly eyes", lol, I jokingly asked her if that was a technical term. Anyways, she's very happy with Leiki and just adores her. She also pilled her for us for her first worm tablet, which Leiki was also very good about. We have another tablet to give her in 2 weeks.

I made the comment that it was nice to have a cat that eats on her own, because we were force feeding Stan for the last 3 weeks of his life (we had only had him for 2 months total). She said that she's happy that we have a healthy cat now and that Stan was very sick and we did everything that we could have for him. She looked like she was going to cry, which made me almost cry. We still miss Stan a ton, he was the perfect cat for us and had such an personality, but we're trying not to compare Leiki and she's doing very well here and fitting in too. It's just a bit different going from an 8 year old male to an 11 month old female that's slightly crazy, lol.

Thanks!

After all we went through with Stan I think we were kind of avoiding taking her to the vet for her first check up since she had been with us. You know, if we can't see anything wrong then there isn't anything wrong, which is definitely not good overall. In a way I'm kind of glad that she has worms so that we were forced to take her in and get the news that she's completely healthy - aside from the googly eyes, lol. She also said that her eyes shouldn't cause her any problems, most siamese that have the same problem only worse never have any problems with their eyes.

Now we just have to take her in in August for her shots and then she won't have to go back for quite some time!

I love that we have our vaccination schedule the way it is - Fynn's are due in November, Sadie's are in January, Boo's (we'll be getting him sometime in the next 2 months) are in June and then Leiki's are in August. It definitely helps to be able to spread them out like that for their general check ups. We do the dog's vaccinations at home, but we still bring them in when they are due for their annual.
