12 oz cans

What brands, aside from Wellness and Evo, offer grain free wet food in large cans (12oz)? I want to continue to offer my cats high quality grain free food but at the best price possible...duh I also want to increase the variety in their diet so I'm looking into other options.

I actually asked this question not too long ago: http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/sho...light=big+cans

Most of the brands that come in the large cans aren't very high-quality, so I don't know about grain-free. Is Felidae grain-free? That might be a good one to try. And California Natural.

I've been going through this same issue. The problem for me is that my local pet supplier doesn't sell Evo. Wellness is the only grain-free that comes in the large cans. I grabbed two cans of Felidae yesterday to try it, since the cats are being picky and seem to be wanting more variety. They only have two flavors of Felidae though. I honestly just hate small cans but it looks like I am going to have to start buying them since all the other brands only sell the small ones.

In the past my cats liked Evangers and they have 100% meat options in the 13.2 ounce cans.

Tons of options online.

Locally it is really a toss up because some areas carry certain foods and other areas don't.

Around here I usually buy Innova, Evo, and California Natural. Those are the main three that I have seen and they run pretty cheap at less than $2/can.

It all comes down to the ingredients and the ash content. If it has a low ash content and the ingredients are high quality meats (not by-products or mystery meats) you will be pretty safe.

all the best!

I don't know where you live but if the company makes the 13 oz cans but the store doesn't carry them, they will usually order them for me. I have order ed the larger cans from Petco for convienence although they are the most expensive.

Thank you for your responses. I'll cover all the questions/suggestions without quotes.

My store does carry Innova and California Natural in large sizes and I used to buy them, but they're not grain free right?

And yes, my store will order different sizes and even items they do not carry at all. Problem is that I have to order them by the case as they're not going request delivery for a can or two. My cats can be finicky so I do not want to buy a case of 12 oz cans without knowing if my cats will eat the brand or particular recipe.

My store carries Merrick which I think is grain free but I'm sure this item is available in the large size.

I found Felidae, the grain-free formula on Amazon for 20.99 for a case of 13 oz cans. That looks to be a great deal. The ingredients seem to be pretty good too. Any opinions? I've read that it's not well liked by cats though?

I'll hop in here with a quick question on these 12oz cans, or any ones that are bigger than just a serving or two. How long can those sit in the fridge? We only have one cat and we ordered a case of big Wellness cans yesterday, as well as some Soulistic ones. She eats around 3-4 oz of canned food a day and, luckily, isn't a picky cat at all.

I let them sit in the fridge 2-3 days, they've sat up to a week in there when I was feeding flavors the cat rejected to the dogs but dogs can eat bad meat so I don't know if it was still really "good" or not. I buy Evo and Felidae in the big cans, not such a fan of the latter, it has big whole peas in there and a lot of different proteins but my cat likes it and keeps it down.

For Felidae, because of the whole peas? Or because it's not particularly good food?
Yeah, not a fan of the veggies and it's got like four different proteins, but it's a decent food besides that and it's reasonably priced. Usually whole chunks of veggies or rice don't go over well with my cat but she can handle this. Now carrot chunks, that's a mess waiting to happen.

Check if with your pet store if they are able to order Dave's cat food 12 oz. cans turkey or chicken flavor (grain free) around $1.59 a can. They are out of Massachuetts, and you can email Dave personally at www.davespetfood.com with questions.

You can order Dave's cat food online here http://www.waggintails.com/p-228-dav...25oz-cans.aspx
