Pallas Cat - very amusing creatures! So much like "domestic" cats, was talking to me & interacting w/ me (another lady there said it looked like her crabby Persian
)

These next two of the Pallas Cat are videos, click on them to play. He was watching something, stalking it I guess, in the first one. The second one he was hamming it up for me. Like I said, very cool "kitty"!

and a not so good one of a Cheetah, s/he saw what could've been lunch & was quite intent upon watching it!

Beautiful pictures!
I had to giggle at the "crabby Persian" description of the Pallas cat

Your photos are just gorgeous! I can't wait until it warms up here and I can get to the zoo. I go every year and just love it. And, the fact that the zoo fee is waived for residents of the county every Monday during the summer is a definite plus!

I love tigers. They are such beautiful creatures. The tiger exhibit here in Cleveland has been closed, but it's expected to reopen, I believe, this year. So, I am thankful to be able to live vicariously through your pictures. I can't believe the shots you got -- they're just fabulous! The pallas cats are also some of my favorites. It's amazing how domestic they seem. The videos you caught are terrific (and I did enjoy the comment about the pallas cats' personalities and looks reminding someone of their crabby persian). But, it's also evident how wild they truly are. And, even though the cheetah was more interested in lunch than a photo op, it's hard not to see the beauty in such a strong, lithe animal.

Thank you for sharing these photos. I can't wait to get some pics of my own come spring/summer here in Cleveland.

Pallas cats are funny little guys. . .the ones at the zoo here are always chattering at people. I wonder if they're tame or not. I know that some of the wild cats can become fairly tame. . .the servals and caracals at this zoo are apparently almost pets, according to their keepers (the tiger, too, because she was bottle raised, but because of her size they can't go into her enclosure). But I don't know if Pallas cats are so inclined.

These are ones from the Great Plains Zoo, not sure if that's the one you're referring to or not. A lot of the animals were very happy to see people & approaching the fence - the poor ponies & goats in the "barnyard" part were not happy to not have many visitors come to feed them - they all thought I was bearing food!

Even though I went in the winter when it's cold, I found that while some of the animals are completely off exhibit, most of them are moved indoors & you can still see them - just even closer than when they're outdoors. And there is less commotion w/ fewer people around, so the animals were a lot more active. It was quite cool actually.

Haha, yes! I forgot you were going to be in Sioux Falls. Yep, their Pallas cats are very vocal, I don't know if all of them are like that, though. It's a good zoo, even though it's small. I thought the enclosures looked familiar. The female tiger's name is Mona. . .I forget the male and the kitten's names. I like to get to know their names, but you have to be a member and get the newsletter or catch one of the keepers to ask.

I don't believe cheetahs jump or climb. They're built for speed, not height.
