One of my 3 year old cats started vomiting. He's done it a few times now in the past few hours. He hasn't had any signs of illness which makes me think he ate something. I asked a vet friend of mind he said to keep an eye on it for a few hours, remove food/water, give chicken/rice you know the deal.

I'm very nervous because I have never seen him act like this.
This has been the worst week ever for me! Wisdom teeth + I then cracked a tooth from chewing on my opposite site. Which I have to wait to tomorrow to fix also (emgerency dental appt for me too!! sheesh!) I myself am chock-full-o meds, in tremendous pain and am now worried about my little boy. (I have to have someone go with me sinc eI can't drive)

Any thing else I can do for him for the few hours until we can get to the vet??

Hiya!

If your cat's “vomiting habits†change suddenly or if his vomiting accompanies other physical or behavioral changes, take him to the vet. If possible, take in a sample of the vomit for analysis—it might speed up diagnosis and treatment. Although most feline vomiting doesn't indicate a life-threatening crisis, repeated vomiting can result from poisoning, intestinal obstruction, serious disease, or infection. It can also be a sign of food allergies, intestinal parasites, or other problems.

It can also be due to over-eating if the vomit is like a (gross) tube of food partially digested, or if he drinks too much water right before or right after eating - this can cause vomiting.

If it is bright orange or yellow vomit, (if you've started a new food recently?) this should not be occurring and the reason it would be occurring is because there is dye in the cat's food.

I've noticed that since Proctor and Gamble took over all Natura products (Innova, EVO, Wellness, California Natural - all those), I have a couple of cats who have vomited orangish. P&G agreed in the merge not to change anything for one year - I think it's been almost a year now. Yipes!

If he keeps throwing up, just check on his hydration level regularly (if you are able in your state), or have someone else just gently lift up the skin on his back (not the scruff), and then drop it, if it goes down within a second, he's okay, if it's more than a second, he is dehydrated and needs fluids (you can do this cheaply at home, p.m. me if this ends up being the case) or if the skin stays up or goes down reeeeeally slow, it's an emergency and he must see an emergency Vet.

Just give him lots of lovin's, clean his face, if you have any of those kitty teeth wipes, he might enjoy having freshened teeth and mouth/tongue, etc.

Let us know what happens!! Poor baby!

Warmly,

Julie O'

Thanks for the tips. We do have a new kitten so I though maybe he was unhappy about that but he is puking too much for it to be that. The first few were "logs" of food. This morning he puked a cloudy light pink colored liquid. Doesn't look like blood and it could still be because of the food. I am trying to get him to puke in a dish but he runs away when I puke it under him.

There is nothing he could have possibily gotten into. Maybe he eat a toy and swallowed some pieces. I see pink fuzzies on the floor. He usually doesn't act like that.

He is not dehyrated just yet. Err...poor baby I feel terrible for him.
thanks again!

The "pink fuzz" sounds kinda frightening - do you have a pillow or something pink he may have chewed on and ate? If he's still throwing up, he could have a blockage. Also, if he's throwing up today, he'll be dehydrated by now, I'd highly recommend a vet.

Can he get into closets or cupboards where maybe there's something pink, Pepto Bismol or something of that sort? My cats can open cupboards, ugh, and I put silver tape across the ones with cleansers and medicines right now, until I can find a nail tough enough to go through this fake wood that the cupboards are made of, lol.

Warmly,

Julie O'

Multiple throwing up in the same day, and if it's been 2 days today and he's still throwing up, I'd get him to an emergency vet.

Did you get my p.m.?

It looks to me like I'm able to receive, but I'm kind of an idiot, so may be reading it wrong. I'll check with a Moderator.

Warmly,

Julie O'
