The Pepsi Challenge

Which do you prefer?

I'm a Pepsi girl all the way. Sometimes I'll switch to root beer or Sprite for a change.

ETA: I don't drink Pepsi all the time - just a can or so a day. Mainly I drink water now. When I have my meals, I'll drink a glass of V-8 and a glass of orange juice (sometimes Sunny D). I'll have English toffee cappuccino in the mornings (about 1/2 a cup) - sometimes tea. When I get really thirsty, I'll drink water or milk, as those two are the only drinks that seem to quench my thirst. But I still prefer Pepsi over anything else.

Tea & Coffee Adict here!...

I voted "other."

While I will occasionally have a diet Pepsi, it's not high on my list of drinks that I enjoy. For one, the carbonation always gives me a stomachache -- even when I take small sips over a long period of time. I've also found that it's just not, in my opinion, thirst-quenching. Now, there are times where only a diet Pepsi will do. But, by and large, I steer clear.

My drinks of choice are water (with some lemon and lots of ice), iced tea (green tea with honey is my favorite), fruit juices, and milk. If I'm truly thirsty, only water or milk will do. For other times, I do enjoy fruit juices. But, I prefer them to be 100% juice. And, for meals, I usually go with iced tea of some sort.

I answered this, though, with cold drinks in mind. For hot drinks I enjoy coffee, tea, and hot cocoa. I really like making coffee at home since I can customize it any way I want. My coffee of choice is decaf with Stevia sweetener and hazelnut or french vanilla flavoring. I also love cappuccino and lattes -- especially mocha or caramel lattes. Yum! Teas I like to mix up quite a bit. I like all kinds of tea. Herbal, black, green, mint, fruit flavored, and loose leaf. I, however, never put milk or cream in my tea. Tea and honey is all I need! And, well, hot cocoa is a given. In fact, I think I may have some right now.

Man, this thread made me thirsty...

7up is #1 for me! Tastes the best and refreshing.

Coke over Pepsi

Wild Cherry Pepsi over Cherry Coke

For Root Beer....A & W is the best out of the major brands and Hank's for premium Root Beer! One of these days, I want to do a taste test of most all brands of mass produced premium root beer!

Coke. But i really like all of them. Havent heard of 7-up though...

Tea
Canada Dry ginger ale
I voted "Other" because it really depends where I am. If I'm home I usually do Ginger Ale or watered down juice of some sort. If we are out I'll usually get either iced tea (as long as it's fresh brewed), root beer or sometimes Pepsi. I've found at times the "heaviness" of sodas like Pepsi and Coke actually settle my stomach. Plus sometimes it's just what I'm craving I guess. I'll go through little spurts where I like to drink one thing a lot; then I don't want it for quite a while.

Tea for me. I drink Coke occasionally
I very seldom drink any kind of soft drink. I do want a diet coke or tea whenever I have a hamburger. I drink water with all my meals. I am addicted to coffee, but I try to only have two cups a day.
My favorite is Coke Zero, but I'll pretty much drink anything as long as it's diet.
I've always been a Pepsi girl.

These days, though, I mostly drink diet Mt. Dew. Water, unsweetened and decaf iced tea, often with a slice or two of lemon. High-octane regular Pepsi is now a treat.
I picked "Other" because I prefer Diet Coke over regular Coke.
I voted for tea. It's pretty rare that we have any type of pop in our house. It's the only way I can be sure to stay away from it
post #16 of 38
DIET CHERRY PEPSI!!!!! Or the diet lime pepsi... I also drink that Healthy Choice cranberry juice alot
post #17 of 38
Diet Coke here. I have a refrigerator magnet that reads: "Give me my Diet Coke in the morning and no one gets hurt".

My other beverage of choice is water. I do the occasional root beer or ginger ale.

When you said "pop" instead of soda I knew you had to be from "up north" because only northerners refer to soda as pop. I quit calling it pop when I moved to Texas because no one knew what it was I was referring to. Here, they call it soda-pop - or ask you if you want a "coke" - no matter what kind of soft drink it is that you prefer. You have to specify what kind of "coke" it is that you want when someone asks you (i.e. Dr. Pepper, Pepsi, Mt. Dew, etc.).

It's funny how different things are depending upon where you live. Here everyone calls a shopping basket/cart a "buggy". I had to start calling them buggies too after I moved here and started working at Wal-Mart because no one knew what I was referring to if I asked for their cart so I could load it up. One time there was a lady who thought I was asking for her (credit) card: she told me I didn't need her card because she was paying with a check.

No one here knows what a "bubbler" is, either. Anyone care to take a wild guess? (I'll bet you Northerners know! )

A water/drinking fountain.

So far as "soda" and "pop" go, I call them "soft drinks", or specify the drink I mean such as "Diet Coke", "Gingerale" etc.

I knew you would know, Linda - considering you're a northerner, too.

I'm in TX too (born and raised ) but rarely hear it called coke unless it's an actual Coke (I call it a soda) and have never heard a shopping basket/cart called a buggy. What part of TX are you in? I'm in south TX.

Dr Pepper or Sweet Iced Tea is my choice of drinks. Not a fan of Coke or Pepsi or any cola type drinks.
I voted for Pepsi but I prefer Diet Pepsi or Pepsi Max. Lately, we have been getting Stars & Stripes Diet Cola at the 99 cent only store. It tastes better than Shasta Diet Cola and we can get a 3 liter bottle for $1.

I have always called it either soda, pop or coke. When I visited
Texas a few years ago, my friend told me they do not call 7-11 convenience stores. They call them Ice Houses! She would say "I am going down to the Ice House for a soda pop!"

I'm in southeast Texas. Maybe it's just in this area where they refer to things differently?
I voted other. I TRY to stay away from dark pop. I will however drink ginger ale sometimes. I used to be a pepsi addict but over time it will wreak havoc on the guts.
I don't drink tea or coffee either. Yuck!

Water is my first choice, then OJ or milk (chocolate too).
It could be especially if it's a more rural area. My in laws are from a small town...one of those blink and you missed it towns south of here and it seems they have their own language

I was about to ask why you stay away from dark soft drinks only, but I took at look at your location and see you are in Canada, which answered my question....I think.

Health Canada regulations only allow caffeine in 'dark-colored' varieties of soft drinks such as cola and root beer. Any clear soft drink cannot contain caffeine and be marketed as a "soft drink."

The regulations in the USA are different: They are allowed to put caffeine into clear soft drinks such as Mountain Dew etc.

EDIT: I see that in March 2010 Canada changed their regulations. Companies can now add Caffeine to cola and non-cola-type beverages in general.

However, to my knowledge, drinks like Ginger Ale, Mountain Dew and 7-Up have remained caffeine free.

I voted other. I basically stopped drinking carbonated drinks. If I'm going to have one, I have a "China Cola." It's a "natural" cola with chinese herbs, and not nearly as fizzy as traditional carbonated beverages. Very soothing on the tummy! http://www.reedsinc.com/china-cola/ I'll also have a Reed's Ginger Brew occassionally.

I voted for Other as well. I drink water and fruit juices mostly.

I grew up in San Antonio and have lived in Texas my entire life. I grew up saying Coke for every kind of soda. Now I just say, "What kind of drink would you like?" I also have called the shopping cart a buggy. I use them interchangeably.

As for the survey, of the choices listed, I prefer Coke. I drink water most of the time as caffeinated drinks make me unable to sleep at night.
