So much for the fostering break...

Meet Persephone. I just couldn't do it guys... I tried to take a break and NOT foster for awhile, but I felt too guilty. It's kitten season, we have the means and the room...I just had to. It's what I was put on this Earth to do, and as hard as fostering can sometimes be, there is nothing like the feeling of being able to help these babies.

Persephone is pregnant, so we're on kitten watch but I think she has awhile to go yet. She's very sweet, always purring and as you can see in some of her pics, she's a polydactyl!

She's gorgeous! I love her paws. They're huge. She's got quite a few extra toes.

Lovely girl! It's so nice of you to foster her considering your own huge fur family.

Kinda how we ended up with such a huge family! LOL Teyah was a former foster who came here as a pregnant mom, Pria was going to be put to sleep by end of day as a kitten if no one fostered her and LP was a foster who was sick and needed a little TLC.

I see a high chance of the Terrific Ten becoming a much bigger digit...

Her paperwork said she came in as a stray, but she looks healthy and fairly well cared for thankfully. With such a sweet personality, she was obviously loved on at some point, poor thing.

They actually gave her that name at the shelter! Usually I name the fosters myself, or change their name if it's not cool... I think Persephone suits her well though!

Awwwwwww, Princess Persiphone (excuse my ignorance, but I've never heard that name before, is it from a movie or book?)

You're such a blessing to her and to her kittens. . . . and about the kittens, will you be . . . adding any to your family? hehe

Fostering the older cats during kitten season is so very important (the kittens too, of course), but for the elders, like my Chief Joseph who just made it and Squint, even as a kitten, but with many medical issues - you are a true blessing to Persiphone! She's beautiful.

(lol, I want to know where the name Perciphone comes from now!)

Warmly,

Persephone is gorgeous. You are a wonderful woman for doing all this. Keep us updated on kitten watch.

Naps With Cats, Persephone was a goddess taken to the underworld by Hades.

Per Wikipedia: :In Greek mythology, Persephone ( /pərˈsɛfəniː/) in modern English—also called Kore) is the daughter of Zeus and the harvest goddess Demeter, and queen of the underworld; she was abducted from her mother by Hades.

The myth of her rape represents her function as the personification of vegetation which shoots forth in spring and withdraws into the earth after harvest; hence she is also associated with spring and with the seeds of the fruits of the fields. Persephone as a vegetation goddess (Kore) and her mother Demeter were the central figures of the Eleusinian mysteries that predated the Olympian pantheon. In the Linear B (Mycenean Greek) tablets dated 1400-1200 BC found at Pylos, the "two mistresses and the king" are mentioned; John Chadwick identifies these as Demeter, Persephone and Poseidon.

In Classical Greek art, Persephone is invariably portrayed robed. She may be carrying a sheaf of grain; in Latin, she is called Proserpina."

And NO! No more adding to the family. I want to be able to continue to foster, and I can't do that if I keep adopting them myself.

She's really gorgeous

Whew! Thanks for the further description.

(It's weird, but I only know phonics in Brasilian Portuguese (I was teaching my ex-boyfriendd's kids in Brasil to speak English, but never got a grip on English phonics. Weird. Me. I'm weird!)

No worries hun, not weird at all!

Wow, Persephone is SUCH a doll... She really loves attention, and will give these little meows if I stop. She REALLY loves Dana, and follows him around like a lost puppy if he's in the foster room. It's really cute, but it drives Dana nuts because he tries really hard not to get attached to fosters.

She's eatting well and seems to be in great health which I'm thankful for. Hopefully we got her out of the shelter in time so that she, along with her kittens, don't develop the URI that runs so rampant there.
Oh Kailie, you can't fight your calling!

She is GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

no URI!

Oh, and yeah, my heart bleeds for Dana, poor thing getting followed around like that!

I am now thinking she's further along than I originally thought as I was watching the kittens move around like crazy in her belly last night. So I would say we should see kittens within the week! I absolutely LOVE being on kitten watch!
