Hello all. I had written not to long ago that my boy, Simon, was having issues. He had a UTI, then severe constipation, the vet found 2 calcified masses in his abdominal cavity and then his blood work was all over the place.
Well, I took him to a different vet for a second opinion. This new vet is amazing! He's so thorough and he explains EVERYTHING to you. He's even called me, himself, twice to go over what was going on with Simon. He told me that the masses in his abdominal cavity are nothing to worry about right now because they aren't causing any problems for him. He did research about giving him the Miralax that my first vet suggested we use for his constipation and he told me that it was completely safe to use.
He compared two sets of blood work on Simon that were taken about 3 weeks apart. His ALKP level went from a normal 37 to a staggering 834 in 3 weeks and the other vet did not catch this! He took more blood from Simon and extraced urine to test.
He called me yesterday, went over every aspect of the urinalysis and blood work and Simon is 100 % healthy! I am so happy and so relieved! Thank you all so very much for your words of kindness, your support and your prayers.

for Simon feeling better
. I know we all around here always mention about second and even third opinions. But, it is true that you sometimes have to keep digging to get to the bottom of a problem that the first vet might have overlooked or bypassed. So glad you are happy with the new vet
for Simon to stay healthy.

So glad Simon is OK and doing well! I believe that sometimes it's important for a second opinion and for trying a new vet! Earlier rather than later! Our Sophie had two or more issues going on and while we dealt with the blindness there were other things that evidently were going on that our local vet and eventually the animal hospital missed!
