The thing about Lyme's is that it's typically a diagnosis makes by elimination. You have several things to rule out first, like Lupus and MS - two common diseases that it can mimic. (and two serious ones that you do not want left untreated)
When most people get told it's Lyme's, and especially chronic lyme's, it's after they've exhausted all other options and tried better tests for it.
I faxed over some info to my mother in laws doctor to look over regarding Candida. The nurses there didn't seem to understand what I was asking when I called and left a message. I hope to hear something soon from her doctor. Thanks again for the tip!

Well, based on everything I'm learning about Lyme, given my symptoms only started a few weeks ago, I'm quite happy we're treating for it. Much better chances of it not becoming chronic if this is what it is.

I don't have any of the clinical symptoms of lupus that would lead a doctor to do testing for it. MS... sort of.

And I do believe I made it clear we don't have a definitive diagnosis of Lyme. Being treated for suspected Lyme, and we'll go from there after the month on Doxy.

Whatever it is, I'm exhausted and in pain. (And 27 other symptoms on the list of 38 potential symptoms).

Yup.
I'm going to start taking a probiotic with acidophilus GG. Gary also came home with magnesium and CoQ10 (after talking to the pharmacist). Turns out all of these are mentioned in the Nutritional Supplements section of the Advanced Topics in Lyme Disease. I'm already on a B-supplement and a multivitamin, and I take extra B-6 because of the problem with neuropathy.

I feel bad for you and sorry you are in pain like this. It is good you are taking those extra vitamins, and adding the CoQ10 and magnesium. I am really praying you feel better very, very soon. More

Laurie, I'm so sorry you're in so much pain and discomfort. Hope you're feeling better soon.

I've known 2 people who have had Lyme Disease and neither got it from a tick. They've both gone on to have additional health problems, so I really hope you have a complete and total recovery.

Most people don't actually get lyme disease from adult ticks. Usually it's tick nymphs that spread it due to what they feed on at that stage in their life cycle. Tick nymphs are closer in size to a mite (bird or grain mite sized) thus few people ever see them let alone see the one that bit them.

I read this earlier and it just now registered..

Are you regularly retested for this? B6 is one of the B vitamins that you can get too much of. Guess what one of the symptoms of excessive B6 is? Neuropathy.

Actually, I had the pain in my fingers/hand and wrist for several years - it was quite debilitating. When I don't take the supplement for a few days, the pain comes back. But thank you for mentioning this, I'll add it to the list of things to talk to my doc about.

Edited to add: Just read up at the NIH about B6. They've set an upper limit of 100mg of B6 per day as "safe." Notably, the neuropathy that can result from too much B6 goes away when you stop the supplementation.

Sure it can go away, but you're taking it daily. If you looked that up surely you read that it's easily absorbed, which is the problem. lol If you eat a healthy diet and have no small intestine damage, then you don't want to top off with supplements too much. The B-complex is probably fine with it's lower levels and balance of other B vitamins. It's actually possible to do damage from unequal supplementing with some of them if you have a deficiency. One reason I put off my B12 shot a couple weeks ago was to wait for other tests to come back.

B12 deficiency can cause weird symptoms, you'd be better asking people with it than reading a generalized symptom list, but thats another one you should keep an eye on. The better test for that is a MMA urinary test and checking homocystein, but good luck getting a doc to order. Mine hasn't heard of them before.

I would tell you what my B12 symptoms are, but I have other deficiencies and the celiacs mixing things up. One thing I've had problems with for years is stiff sore, and sometimes swollen, joints. I get bruritis easily. I accidentally had somw gluten the other day, actually, and now my right elbow and knee are very stiff- it happens to a lot of people. I don't think anyone knows why some get it. Others get that in reactions to foods and for deficiencies that you wouldn't think would cause it.

On the upside, per B12, if folate and other B vits are fine it does no harm to get injections. They're cheap, too.

I am keeping you and Gary in my prayers....just when the weather is getting nice. I hope this isn't Lyme and you have a quick recovery.

Oh dear I have only just read this, as if you havent got enough to worry about
I really hope the meds clear it up.

My OH had Limes before I met him, at that time he was farming on his own and it got so bad all he could manage was to drag himself out to milk the cows, eventually he went to the docs (all he had on was his overall nothing else!!!) and the doctor had to wright the cheque for him, anyway he healed fine, so sounds to me that you will be fine catching it early. xx

Well, I hope it's not just the antibiotics masking anything, but I'm feeling much better than I was! I don't wake up with aching muscles. My grip strength is coming back - I can open already open jars, I can open water bottles again, and scooping the litter isn't a complete challenge!

I do still tire easily, but I'm not exhausted all the time. My brain fog is clearning, and I don't think I'm losing words any more.
