Just wanted to request some vibes for Asher, the sweet young male kitty (brown tabby) that ended up coming back to the office with me after I fed my feral colony on Wed. He's likely yet another abandoned pet. He appears to have some type of injury to his tail; it's hanging limply and there's no movement. I'm taking him to the vet this morning for an exam, shots and testing. If he's in any pain and needs surgery, we'll schedule it ASAP. Otherwise, we'll wait until next week and he'll be fixed at the rescue's spay/neuter clinic and their own vet will do surgery on his tail if needed. Other than his tail and being a little on the thin side, Asher (who got his name because of it being Ash Wed.) seems healthy. He's been eating well and using the litter box. He's a little scared, but is friendly and enjoys attention.

Please send vibes that all goes well at the vet today. Thanks!

Unfortunately, Asher tested positive for FeLV, which means he won't be able to go the rescue. There is another local rescue/shelter that specializes in the care of leukemia cats. They have space, so Asher will likely be going there in the next couple of weeks. He does need to have his tail amputated, so I'll be taking him in temporarily until he has recovered. My current foster will go back to the rescue for the time being.

Not the news we were hoping for, but at least Asher is getting the care he needs.

Thanks, everybody.

On a positive note, Asher's tail didn't need to be amputated after all. He does have a severe bite wound near the base of his tail that had become badly infected, but the vet detected some movement and feels antibiotics and twice daily warm compresses should do the trick.
