Prayers/Vibes for Japan...

...and wherever else tsunamis may hit.

A huge 8.9 earthquake hit 150 km/100 mi off the coast of Japan. It was a fairly shallow quake which means a higher risk of tsunami. In fact, we actually watched live video on CNN and Fox from Japanese tv of a 10 m/32 ft tsunami sweeping across northern Japanese farmland, homes, highways, and towns. It was incredible to watch nature's fury and horrifying to watch knowing that far below the chopper footage were real people who weren't able to escape it.

Tsunami warnings have been issued for pretty much everywhere in the Pacific, incluing the Philipines, Australia, and Hawaii. Please be safe everyone who is in the path of the great waves. Godspeed.

It says New Zealand too. And the west coast of US and Hawaii. I know one member lives "across from the beach". Is it catdaddy or whiskys dad?

Horrible pics on tv. Prayers for everyone in this awful thing.

I saw this. What a horrible disaster. The news was saying that the tsunami waves were higher than some of the developing countries in its path.

I was woken up a bit after 7:30AM by my mom AND my cousin in PA texting me saying 'i hope you're ok with the tsunami.' I was like What?? So I got up and saw the news about the quake. So so scary and sad and just awful!

In Long Beach, CA we just have a tsunami advisory for... about now I guess. Not supposed to be bad unless you're swimming in the ocean. I'm 5 miles away from the beach. Used to live ON the beach, but on the 10th floor.

Oh and I think it is Whisky's Dad who lives in Ventura across from the beach. They've got a higher warning than us I think. But still shouldn't be too bad.

I hope LyraJean and Aya are ok!

for everyone. The stories and photos are just terrifying.

I was up when the weather channel was just getting news of it but I didn't stay up to see what became of it all. My best friend just moved back state side from Japan last summer. (Military family) I've been texting with her and everyone on Okinawa is ok from what she knows. The coats were evacuated as a precaution but the waves weren't too bad. She knows a few people on the mainland too and I guess they are all accounted for.

My prayers are with everyone affected by this. So much devastation lately.

My prayers go out to Japan and the people there. I hope it doesnt affect me. (I live in Australia and we are supposed to get abit of it.)

It makes me so thankful for everything. I could just cry when I see all those towns, and people just washed away.

It makes you think....when things like this happen, there are no borders. We are all together in this world. It just makes me think and be thankful and pray for those poor people and animals.

My heart goes out to all those people trying to deal with it.

It's just dreadful - words just cannot express how dreadful. It's easy to watch the pictures and be awestruck by the power of natural forces; but down at ground level all the life swept away......

My thoughts are with them all - for what it's worth to them. For those that we know, I hope that all our members in Japan and everywhere that may be affected by the tsunami and all of your families are safe and well

I recall in one of her posts she said that her contract was not renewed and she was headed back to the states. She had a thread asking about international airline travels.

I have been watching it on and off all day on the news and its just terrible, how on earth will they ever come through this? There are so many theories from the moon, an act of god e.t.c... but I read that the pressure has been building up under the sea for many years and they have been monitoring it, shame they didn't know this was about to happen. I have just read that the tsunami warnings for everyone else has been scaled down so lets hope it doesn't cause any more devestation. My thoughts are with all those affected. We in England moan about the bad weather but we have never experienced anything as bad as this, we are very lucky.xxx
