Just read this article. Promptly burst into tears.

another innocent animal senselessly murdered. What's worse, the "person" who did this was pregnant at the time. Hideous.

There are several versions being reported. One I saw today stated that the mother bought the original hamster for her 9 year old son. His 25 year old brother kicked the exercise ball the hamster was in and that hamster died. The older brother then went out and bought 3 more hamsters "as an apology." Then the 19 year old sister killed one of the replacement hamsters. Which is when the SPCA became involved.

If all of that is true why wasn't the older brother charged - no evidence / little furry body?

Regardless, this family shouldn't have pets, the 19 year old shouldn't have a baby, and I do hope the "we have a cat with kittens" reported in the link is incorrect.

May all these little furry ones cross the Rainbow Bridge (and stay out of the way of the cats!)

The charges in the killing of a hamster have now been dropped.

Perhaps this should be moved to IMO for people's comments.
