old cat questions

My male cat is getting old. He broke his leg at least a year maybe more ago. He still walks around in pain and has trouble jumping up on to things. They had to put a big pin in the bone. Im guessing the hole from the pin isnt healed all the way. Is there something I can do to help him out. I thought giving him milk would help the bone grow but i dont know.

Also, it seems like he is always hungry. He meows and meows and riles up the other cats a half hour after they ate and we have a kitchen full of cats.

It sounds like your old fellow needs to see the vet. How old is he? He should not be in pain. The vet needs to address this. He probably has arthritis also. There are meds for that.

Giving him milk is not the answer. It sounds like he is not getting enough to eat. What do you feed him? Could you seperate him at that time and give him more. The questions you have a vet can answer.

He really needs to be seen by a vet. Old cats have a whole different list of needs. Please take him in and get a senior workup. He is your old friend, and counts on you to see to his needs,. that he gets better.

You should take him to the vet, they should be able to give him a pain medicine.

Hello and Welcome to TCS... I feel bad for your old cat. How old is he? And that leg really should be healed by now. He shouldn't have that much pain. I think you should take him into the vet and get him help with these issues. The meowing and hunger is not normal and needs to be addressed as well. Is he getting enough food? You mention other cats, maybe he is getting pushed away from the food?? We want to help if we can

Have the vet check for hyperthyroidism. That can make cats extra-hungry.

I agree 100% with all that has been said, above. The Vet for sure.
