I have not been able to get to any shows lately, and I've noticed the past few times I took my show HHP Harlequin to events (like a photo shoot for example), she was not as comfortable as she normally is and seemed unhappy to be there and was not interested in playing which is unusual for her... She even hissed once which is something she never does (she hissed at my friend when she tried to pick her up after just petting a strange cat...)
Normally she is more outgoing and curious about new places and seems comfortable and interested when we go to events. She is currently a Quad Grand in TICA and I really want to try to get her to Supreme, but I am worried if I take her to a show this spring, she may act the same way as she did at the recent events and may not enjoy it...
I've been thinking about maybe starting to take her out for walks and going to pet stores and things like that as a sort of re-socialization but I am wondering if that could help her to get more comfortable in public again, or if it's unlikely to help? I don't want to do it if it is just going to upset her and not help any, if that is the case I guess I'll just have to stop showing but I would really like to try to get her to Supreme if I can. I'm afraid if I showed her now with the way she has been acting lately there is no way we'd ever get the Best Cat final we need.
Because of her recent behavior I decided not to show her in the HHP show Chicago Pet Expo this year, which is coming up in about two weeks. It's a really crowded and noisy show since it has all sorts of animals and is huge, although she never minded it when she was entered the last two years I don't want to upset her since she has been acting differently lately. It's not affiliated with any of the cat organizations so you don't get points or anything so I decided to skip it this year. I'm still going to the show but I'm taking my dog and volunteering at a booth instead.
