Well, it was recommended we put Sami down. It's a darn good thing we didn't! I believe it was a cold or something. She has suddenly started eating almost all her food and has cut down on her water intake. Same with Buddy. Phew!

Parker has been on the buspirone for 3 weeks? I think. He has been grooming less and seems to be growing some fur out from his legs but he is still having "episodes" 1-2 times a day. I really hope this works within the next few weeks.
Thankfully he's had absolutely no side effects. I'm just getting anxious/impatient to see if these episodes stop for good. My poor boo

I did a recount and Parker has been on on these pills just under 6 weeks. Shouldn't they have started working more by now? As I said previously, his over grooming has slowed down but the episodes are still continuing. They are roughly the same time each day. Between 5pm and 7pm. Should I call the vet back and see if the dose should be 10mg a day, instead of just 5mg? Or should I just wait until the 3 months are up and see if it all stops by then? The pharmacy was sort of confused by the prescription and they gave me 2 extra refills (lol) so if I need to go to 10, I will be able to easily get more.

Before you change the dose, you should call the vet and speak with them first.

What's happening in your home during that time that's not happening the rest of the time? This could be the trigger. Talk to your vet about the time period as well as what's happening during that time before upping the dose. If you can do something to change the atmosphere in your home between 5-7pm, then that may be all it will take.

5 is when I give him his pill. It is also when my roomie comes home from work. other times everyone is just sitting around, calm watching tv or whatever and he will have a fit.
Even days when my roomie works late and its quiet here, he still does it. Its almost like a routine for him now. Playing also gets him twitching and sometimes when I am preparing his food, he will get a little sketchy.
