Milly

My lovely girl Milly died last Wednesday. She was at least 15 years old and up to Tuesday was as happy and bright as a youngster. Sometime on Tuesday she had a stroke - I've lost a cat to that before so knew the signs weren't good - and the vet came out to see her. He said if she were younger they would hospitalise her but given her age and the severity of it, there was no hope. So she was euthanased there & then - on her favourite cushion on the sofa, with her people both there.

It was pretty ghastly all round (and is the only time I ever see OH cry, when a cat dies) but she was so unresponsive I knew that in reality she had already left before her body gave up the fight.

Daisy Cat is beginning to settle but has spent the last few days wondering where Milly is. Daisy doesn't like Changes. I keep thinking I am coping quite well until I burst into tears at random times. But despite the grief I still feel happy that I had such a long time with my beautiful cat. Looking at her photo album made me realise how happy she was - in every picture she looks smug!

Oh my goodness, i'm so sorry It just shows how precious their little lives are when they can suddenly become ill so quickly

Poor Daisy. Have you told her that she'll see her big sister again at the bridge

Oh, I am so sorry you lost your sweet Milly. I just love that name.

Fifteen years is just a great age for a cat. You must have given her excellent care and love all those years for her to reach that milestone.

I hope that the grief is tempered with good memories that make you smile. Milly left this earth as so many of us wish we can. In our home, with our people near us. You sure did have a long time with her.

I believe we will see our little ones again. Who knows, they may be closer than we mortals know.

God bless Milly and you for loving and caring all those years.

I'm so sorry for your loss of your beloved Milly. It's hard on those left behind including the other pets, I know you will give Daisy lots of love as she adjusts.

You must have taken great care of Milly her whole life through for her to live to fifteen years! It still does not make that final decision any less painful though no matter how old they are. You gave Milly a wonderful life filled with love and joy. She rests and plays peacefully at the bridge now. So sorry you lost your dear cat Milly

My condolences. Hopefully it's some consolation that she had a long, happy life and passed quickly. , Milly.

Please accept my condolences. I know how hard it is to lose a beloved cat. All those years you had her and you were both lucky! But that doesn't make it any easier.

RIP dear Milly.
