Just thought I'd drop by the forum with a quick thank you and a word of encouragement for all the wonderful advice I have recieved from you all over the years! Way back in 2008 a stray kitty showed up at our door, pregnant and homeless. I am SO alleric to cats it would possibly kill me to live with one. However, we were able to successfully see her through the pregnancy. (I did survive 4 kitties and a momma in my basement for a few months.) All 4 kittens went to very nice homes but, of course the mother has stayed with us. She was immediately spayed and now spends nights (and really anytime she wants) in our basement. Because of my allergies, I have given up basement cleaning duty to my husband and children - YAY! We moved last year and our new neighbors love her and allow her to come into their house using their own cat door.

What I thought would not be an ideal situation has turned out just fine. She could have easily become the cat that was euthanized at the local shelter, but we are trying to give her a decent life.

Please be a responsible pet own and spay or neuter your furbabies!

This is Smokey:

It's so nice to read that someone with allergies went the extra mile anyway and saved lives.

Too many people use allergies as an excuse to look the other way.

God bless you for not doing that!

I couldn't get the picture of Smokey.

That's great you didn't let your allergies get in the way of helping cats
I'm allergic to cats to, but I seem to be fine with them, the longer I'm around them.
