A stressed Persian

This beautiful, white, 7 years old, Persian cat went through a very stressful situation. First, the owner died. Then, he was forced into a crate to take a 4 hour flight. The owner's son is now taking care of the poor boy who has not eaten/drunk/toilet since yesterday. He is hiding in the living room.
I suggested that he should be left alone with food/water/litter box/toys. I also told the new owner to find some calming remedy. Hopefully the cat will come out eventually.
What is worrying me is that he will need grooming. How long can a Persian be left without being brushed/combed?
Thank you for any suggestions.

I am not sure if this post belongs here or in the Breeders' forums?

It sounds like perfectly normal adjustment behavior. You might encourage your son to get a Feliway diffuser and plug in the room where the kitty is. Also, play some soft music to help kitty, too.

Can't answer your question about grooming though.
