My cat Joey is a 1 yr old neutered male.
In the past, he has gone through a couple spells where he would throw up for a couple days every time he ate, but it always got better without medical attention and he continued eating.
Tuesday I walked into the kitchen to find an ibuprofen bottle open on the floor and pills spread out. Toby & Billy were playing with the pills and Joey was just walking around the kitchen. Joey doesn't love dry food but eats it, he LOVES wet food, and refuses dry treats...so I don't think he ate any pills. If anyone would have, toby/billy would as those two like to eat EVERYTHING....
Anyways, Wednesday morning I woke up to find a couple puke piles in the house. THroughout the day I found about 4 more. I finally realized it was Joey on Wednesday night when he threw up infront of me. By Thursday morning I found 4-5 more throughout the house. Thursday morning at wet food time, Joey refused to eat. I put him in the bathroom with food and water but he refused to eat except a small nibble of dry food that he ended up throwing up. Thursday evening we bought plain meat baby food and syringe fed him about 1/2 a jar which he lapped up like crazy. He ended up finishing about 1/4 of the jar himself when we put it in a bowl. Friday morning we offer him more babyfood or wetfood and he refuses both.
I had to force two syringes of food into his mouth, then locked him in the bathroom with more babyfood, dry food and water and a litter box. He peed in the box, a normal pee w/ no issues.
I just gave him another 3 syringes of food and he threw it up within 20 minutes. I called a vet and they couldn't get me a set appt that I could make it to but said if I do a walk in they will still see my cat it just might be around other appts and I might wait a few extra which is fine with me.
At this point I am freaking out and have been crying all morning about my poor cat. Joey is my absolute favorite cat and since the day I got him when he was 6 weeks old we have bonded like crazy. He follows me around, lays with me, sleeps with me, and just always wants to be around me. Except right now, he is just sleepingon the floor near me and my heart is breaking that he is sick and I can't help him.
I was thinking of having my husband stop and get some more baby food, canned chicken, canned tuna and try some more food around 2 when hubby gets home. Is this a good idea? Any suggestions of anything else I can try until I get to the vet tonight around 530?
Thanks! Sorry my post is long, I am just scared!

I'm sorry to hear about your cat, I know it can very distressing when they get ill. We have two cats, one is a kitten and earlier this year our older cat (6) had similar symptoms to what you have stated. It turned out that our cat had kidney problems and when he got his shots, I think his body didn't react well to them. He too couldn't keep food down and suddenly developed an abscess on his tongue which prevented him from eating. He is an American Grey longhair and has always had trouble with fur balls.
The interesting thing is that he would always get sick after having his shots. I think that because he was such a big cat, the vets gave him larger shots and his body couldn't take it.
Ask them about his kidney function and see if it coincides with his shots, also check his tongue to see if all is well. As to food, we used to feed our cats tuna, but having been on several forums, there was a mixed reaction to this. Some said the mercury contained in some tuna could affect a cats digestion.
I have switched our kitten to wet food from a trusted cat food maker and she seems to fine. We are definitely concerned about getting her shots done though. I hope it all works out for you and your cat!
Regards
Fred

Oh, my - many prayers for Joey - stupid question, you did tell the vet Joey might have eaten the advil, right? Even if you don't think so, it's something to consider. Any way someone else could get you to the vet sooner? or to an E-vet? And here's a link to the ASPCA poison control center http://www.aspca.org/pet-care/poison-control/

Do not apologize for being scared - we all get really upset if something happens to our furry little ones. I think you should call the ASPCA helpline - since ibuprofen is toxic to kitties. You do have to spend some money while making the call. Alternately, you may want to take Joey to the e-vet since you may either way have to make that trip. I do not know where in Ohio you are but I am near Cleveland and I know the emergency places in the Cleveland-Canton area and they are really good. Please do not wait any longer - it's already been 3 days. I definitely do not want to alarm you any further, but I do want to emphasize the urgency.
I do not know if Toby or Billy are cats or dogs but you cannot discount the fact that they did not inject any and since you cannot be sure that all the vomit are Joey's do keep an eye on the other 2.
for Joey

One of my husbands friends is a vet tech and he talked to her today and she said if Joey did ingest ibuprofen in a fatal amount, he would have died already but that the ibuprofen could be causing damages inside his stomach/organs.

Unfortunately I cannot make it to the vet any sooner then 530 pm although I am calling my daycare kids parents to see if they can possibly pick their kids up sooner because Joey is not doing well. We gave him another syringe of baby food and are seeing if he can keep it down and for now he is just sitting in the bathroom half asleep infront of the heater. He cries when we pick him up so I think he is in pain. It is 315pm now, so I am hoping the next hour and a half fly by so we can get on the way to get him checked out....thanks for the and please please please keep him in your thoughts.

I'm so sorry - I didn't realize you had the responsibility for all those children - many prayers that when you are able to get to the vet, they can quickly diagnose and treat your baby successfully. Of course you're scared and frantic - please know you're getting lots of vibes and prayers your way.

I am going to make a new thread to go over this. Apparently it doesnt seem the aspirin was the problem, it is a kidney issue. ....
He is being held overnight at the animal hospital and is receiving IV fluids. I am waiting to hear how his xray went, and tomo they will do more bloodwork to check the levels of everything in his kidneys bc right now everything was high. There will be more information in the post I am making titled "kidney issues in 1 yr old cat"
