So we've had this 10 year old kitty that we inherited from the neighbors for a week and a half now. It's progressing- slowly.
Jasper still wants to hang out in the garage a lot. But if you open the door, he will come into the house- as long as it's quiet. He managed to get himself between the wall and the washing machine and it was quite a shock when that big noisy thing came on. We now have a piece of wood covering an opening so he can't get behind there anymore.
He walks around the bottom floor. He was hiding under the couch when he was in. But today (I think it's that it's just me in here and it's quiet) he just went behind the couch. And wasn't running for cover when I came over to pet him.
He came face-face with HollyHeart. He just sat there- she hissed. At one point she tried to swat him so I moved him away. He has no front claws so I think Holly could hurt him more than he could hurt her. I think eventually these two might become friends. He seems to still like to play, more than Sneaky does (and Sneaky's the same age as him). Holly's only 1
When it's not obnoxious cold- I open the door to the garage and let him wander. I just put him back in since he looked like he'd had it for a while being social.
I just wish he'd get over being scared of dh. I'm thinking maybe it's the fact that his previous owner was single.
Oh yeah- and she came over Sunday evening for a bit to visit with him. I could tell that she really cared about him- and I can just imagine how hard it was to "let him go" and take an apartment that didn't allow pets. She kept saying that maybe she'd get another someday. But I don't know if my neighbors next door would let her (her immediate family)- she has enough trouble putting money together to take care of herself. She said she'd be happy as long as she was allowed to come over and have visits- and that's fine with me
