One of the pet stores that I frequent has a whole family of shop cats. This is Alex, who I first met a few months ago, when he decided to jump in my shopping cart and assist me with my purchases. I didn't take any pictures then, but I recently saw him again and invited him to sit in the cart with me and come along for the ride.

He may look cranky, but he's not. He's 18 pounds of sweet, unless he spots a mouse. Yes, he and his family keep any rodents away and with a store full of food that is no small task.

When I spotted him I said, "HI, Alex! Want to come up here? (pat, pat.)

Here he is marking my purse!
That's not dandruff on his back. He had been rolling in some litter that spilled from a ripped bag.

He's just too cute. Handsome, actually. I love his markings!

I remember you telling us about Alex. What a great looking guy. So glad he could assist you with your shopping.

Nice shopping assistant there!

If any of the stores I frequented would supply carts with furry assistants like those, you bet I'd be going there more often.

I think he's the manager of the store---making sure your shopping experience is pleasant!! He's also guarding your purse and those can of goodies in your cart!!! He really is handsome. I think I'd try to sneak him out with me...

No, don't worry about that. It's a small specialty discount pet store. For some reason they have some old WM shopping carts. The place is kinda dumpy, but they have good prices on a lot of things that I get, like Dr. Elsey's litter and Taste of the Wild dry food.

I would hide him under my purchases and push him right on out the store.

I think I would have walked right out of the store with Alex still in my cart...he is quite handsome and I just love black and white kitties.

I posted after you before I read your post, looks like we had the same thoughts.

To those of you who think I should have smuggled him out, it crossed my mind!

However, I don't think his presence would go over very well @ Chez AddieBee. Ya know what I mean?

Besides, he takes his store patrol duties VERY seriously and, yes, I think he loves his life. They take good care of him and his other family members. They are well fed - skin and coat are good. He is neutered.

I know the staff loves him; As I was wheeling him around the store, a couple of workers said, Oh, look... it's ALEX!!! And smiled or laughed b/c he was in my cart, "directing" me. LOL!

Yeah, he looks like he's being very well cared for, and he seems very contented with his life.
