Thank you, I work in a bar so I like them to look nice all the time, the slightest chip and off comes the nail varnish and they are redone haha

Wow those are pretty! I do my own nails but i just paint them in one color. I have like 100 bottles of nail polish though, if not more and change the color every other day. I always wear polish, u never see my nails bare. I'm not patient enough to do designs on them though, and while i like how they look I feel a little awkward wearing something other than one color- I don't know why.

I just have French polish acrylics on mine

My nails are never bare, if I paint them with just one colour I put a top coat of a gold glitter varnish to make it ping without it being in in your face patterned

I used to do stuff like that with my nails. No time now. I'm blessed to have nails that grow out strong and in a good shape. But with a toddler to chase and care for it's just not worth it. I'm washing my hands all the time and I tend to at least keep my pointer finger pretty short (compared to before baby) so I don't scratch her when I'm putting her creams and lotions on. (she has eczema, scratching makes it worse and itch more!)

The one time I had my nails painted at a salon I did not enjoy it. The lady was sanding at them like she wanted to take my skin off my fingers. I don't care for people messing with my feet like that; so I've never gotten my toes done. But sometimes I think I should give that a try and see if it's as relaxing as my cousin swears. LOL

My old boss used to go to a lady like an hour and a half away for certain holidays. She would do 3d nail art and put a different scene on each finger. It was really cute!!

I don't have the patience, talent, or dexterity to do my nails in that way, so I just cheat and use the glue-on nails with all the cool designs.

I tried doing the nail art once or twice, and it didn't turn out too well.

Wow, very cool ladies!

Have you tried the konad templates? I know lots of nail art fans who use them, they look very nice. (If not familiar with them, use google's picture search).

I used to fix my nails all the time when I was younger, but now I've become too lazy and only paint them few times a year. I keep them very long though, no fake nails for me. I just broke my longest nail during the weekend and a friend of mine wanted to measure it the bit that broke off was 1 inch (2,5cm) long.

^Wow, I wish my nails would grow that well. They can grow out about quarter of an inch (little over half a centimeter) and then they break or tear off.
I haven't painted my nails in years, though. It encourages the pitting cycle to start up again. Bets are still out whether that's all serious nutritional deficiencies, thyroid, or psoriasis.
Maybe one day my nails will be healthy enough to paint and not look funky a couple weeks later.

Those doing the glue on nails: make sure you take care of them. Give your nails a break and make sure to moisturize them. All the chemicals in the polishes and glues aren't healthy to constantly have on there.

Those nails are cool!

I used to paint my nails all the time, nothing cool like that, mostly just black. But nail polish seems to weaken my nails. They always break easier. So I haven't polished my nails in a long time.

It can take me upto 4 hours to do my nails I make sure all old varnish is off and I've mosturised and put nail hardener and nail corrector on my nails are very strong for them being constantly painted

I'll Google the templates thanks

I just get false ones put on. The polish lasts longer plus I do not have the patience to do such as good job as you do. I end up with more polish on my skin than nails!!

I always get some sort of nail art but the hand painted ones are pricey.

Getting a new set put on soon and I will post pics.

i do my own. i just cant see spending 20-30 bucks on getting my nails done when i dont have to get fake ones.

Best thing to do is if you get polish on your fingers is do your nails before you go in the bath or shower because the warm water lifts it off your fingers brilliantly

Used to do stuff like that - freehand zigzags, dots, and patterns but now I just buy the stick-ons, saves time and effort and covers the stains better

I just left the nail salon a little while ago with my best friend and now I stumble on this post Sometimes I enjoy going out and getting them done with my girlfriends. It's a nice way to relax and hang out and the salons near me are clean and inexpensive. (It's difficult for me to bend to paint my toes at home with the complications I had from my August heart procedure, so sometimes it's just eaiser to let someone else do them). I do alternate between painting my own though just to save $$! I really like OPI polish the best. I also like Fingerpaints, China Glaze, Essie, and Sally Hansen polishes.

I have to share this nail color I love it!! I just painted it on my nails, and I suck at applying nail polish so please ignore that, and my uneven length nails...
But I just love the color the glitter is sally hansen xtreme wear in rockstar pink and the color at the bottom is NYC fast dry in the color chinatown (I love the NYC fast dry nail polishes because they have such pretty colors that look like a lot like the newest OPI trendy colors)

If I go out in a strong wind, my nails break....I wake up in the morning and find I have a broken or split nail.

It is no use........my nails are pitiful!

If you love doing your nails all fancy...you've GOT to try water marbling. When done correctly the results are pretty cool. The best part is, you don't even need long nails to do it. It works on short ones too.
It is time consuming, uses a lot of nail polish (getting coordinated enough to do 2 or 3 nails at once really cuts down on wasted polish though) and doesn't work with ALL polishes. Sort of have to experiment to see if it works. Sally Hansen works well (NOT fast drying).

Anywho, here is a picture of one of my first few attempts. (Ignore the bumps, I was an amateur. )

And here is a link to a channel with a ton of tutorials and color suggestions.

do you just dip your finger in and it comes out like that?

hmmm might be worth a try
Yeah, you put the nail polish in the water, swirl it around, dip your finger in, nail facing the water, collect the extra polish then pull your finger out. Helps to have tape around your finger though, otherwise you gotta clean it off your skin with polish remover.

Very cool! My nails are usually painted But I dont always do designs. I will for holidays or do tips every now and then. Right now they are a insanely hot pink color. (Think 80s day glow pink) and my toes are a really sparkly red. I usually go for pedicures fairly often in the summer and get nail art done on my big toe. My favorite design I have had was orange polish with white and silver flowery designs. Looked awesome and was perfect for the Vols!
All I have to say about the water marbling is DUUUUUUUUUUDDDDDEEEEE! So gonna try that!!

I keep my nails fairly long and I do them myself. Not into all the designs much; I'll keep them one color, although I do have a few bottles of glitter polishes and crackle polishes. But I simply don't have the time to do all the different colors. I have done French tips on occasion, but not often.

I had a professional manicure one time (for DS's wedding). She was pretty bad. She left nail polish along the cuticles and on the nail bed. And how tacky is that? I came home and had to clean the cuticles myself. Ick. Ever since then, I've done my own nails. I do my nails at night and let them dry. Then the next morning, I'll remove any excess polish from cuticles and nail beds.

A few weeks ago, DH and I were in a restaurant. The server had gorgeous nails and I just loved the color. I had to ask her what the color was and she was more than willing to tell me. And not too long after that, we were being checked out in the grocery store....I had that same color on my nails and the clerk asked me about the color!

Check out the tutorials in the link for sure. She usually lists what brands/colors she is using.

Just make sure the water is room temperature. It will not work if its too cold or too warm.

Its pretty addictive. I was redoing mine every couple of days and buying every color of Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear line.

The most artsy my nails have ever been was a French Manicure!

I've only had a couple of manicures and typically do my own nails. Gel nails and funky designs are out because of the work I do. Infection control considers them to be a hazard to patient care. Technically we aren't supposed to be even wearing nail polish.

The other day at our pedicure my friend went for red toe nails with some kind of sparkle dust or something on the top. They looked rather pretty.

My nails grow but i can never keep them the same length so i just have the french manicure acrylics. Actually their going on tomorrow
