so most of you know about my horrendous asthma attack in december brought on by no meds, bronchitis, and all around not taking care of myself.
for those of you who dont, ill recap. i have a bad asthma attack, and passed out, intubated, and wasnt supposed to live more than 6 hours...but i did..obviously! haha

so i have recovered, gotten insurance (finally!), have the right meds at hte right dosages, have been going to see the dr, keeping the house clean, making sure i keep jericho clean and using different litter, got air purifiers and cleaners that are ok for my lungs.

well i once again have bronchitis. my boyfriend was sick for a week straight with it, and i felt fine, but when i was hospitalized i felt 100% fine and had no clue i had bronchitis, so i decided to catch it fast this time and see the doctor just so we could nip it in the butt before it started effecting my lungs. fast forward 4 days and i am miserably ill. coughing, fever, congestion. the whole deal. sunday my asthma got bad again and i did what i could to help it, and felt better and went to bed. today i woke up and was struggling, but went into work and i couldnt even clock in until i had done a breathing treatment. thats how bad my asthma was this morning. i couldnt focus, write, type, dial, barely speak. my work made me go to the er and get treatment asap.

its really hard for me to cope with the fact that im doing EVERYTHING right now and yet im STILL getting to a point where its so bad that i have to go to the hospital. im taking precautions and im making sure i take care of myself at any sign of asthma problems and yet im in a bad place again, and its only been 2 months since i last had problems. its just so dang frustrating. i dont know what else i can do and its really starting to get to me. i know that this time was nothing like last time, but i cant keep doing this every other month. im really getting down on myself like maybe there was something else i coulda done or cleaned or taken but my doctor assures me im doing everything right...i really hope i am, and i really pray that this gets better as time goes on.

(sorry for the long post, i just needed to get that out)

are they 100% sure it is bronchitis right now? There is a horrible flu that has been going on around here and it knocked me on my butt for a week flat! Same symptoms and coughing for 2 weeks after! The first 3 days I was horrid! I couldnt breathe, eat, or stand without getting dizzy, plus I had a fever and coughing. It hit me out of no where too! I went to bed the night before a little stuffy and a headache (but just figured it was allergies) woke up the next morning and just felt like I had been hit by a truck!

This time of the year I think it is darn near impossible to not get sick at least once! Just continue to do what you are doing and keep your chin up! Hope you feel better soon!

My mother recently caught that respiratory virus that's been going around - it was not the flu, I nagged her to go to the doctor where she was tested. Her's turned into bronchitis within a couple days... of course she's smoked for more than half her life and still does, too.

If you can, call the doc back and tell them you're still struggling.

How long was your asthma left untreated for? Untreated asthma causes airway remodeling, which complicates things much further because you have to deal with that on top of asthma attacks. I've read some studies that singular can undue a bit of that with time, but not all of it.

My husband has severe asthma triggered by allergies. It's worst in the fall and in the spring. There are days when he has to space out breathing treatments just so he can make it. When he is like this, he is very susceptible to a secondary infection, but we always think it's his asthma or allergies. It is miserable for him and for me. He can't sleep well, he doesn't do much around the house, and it's amazing he can get any work done. It's very frustrating for him and then he starts to get depressed. It's a vicious cycle.

Call the doctor or make an appt with the pulmonologist for an exam and to rule out a secondary infection. Also, your meds may need to be tweaked a bit so they're working more effectively for the conditions of the air and such where you live.

Hope you're feeling better soon!!

I know how horrible asthma can be.
My brother, Tyler, has it and has been hospitalized many times for it. He smokes and doesn't really take care of himself though...

I'm thinking of you sweetie.

thanks for the vibes guys, i really needed it. im finally breathing better today. i talked to my mama about how i was feeling and she said that she used to feel the same way when i was young and she would do everything the doctors told her to and i would still have breathing trouble, but assured me that im doing everything i can and its just a chronic condition that will sometimes get worse but mostly be managable..that made me feel better to know she has had the same discouraging thoughts that i have.
