Sophie hates can food with a passion. So I was wondering what the best Kibble would be? When her babies are old enough what would be the best can food for them and the best kitten kibble? Thank you

Really wet food is so important for cats due to the moisture they contain and urinary tract problems with cats not drinking enough water. Just try different canned foods, there are so many. Fancy Feast has some really good varieties to choose from like Fish/Shrimp. Your cat will probably like that line of wet food. Wellness is another type of wet food that cats seem to prefer.

I feed Wellness Core dry kibble along with the wet. It is pricey but I really like it and so do my cats and the proof is in the "poop" so to speak

Canned food is great especially if you think Sophie doesn't drink enough water throughout the day. I thought Chester wasn't a canned food fan either until I realized he liked sauce/gravy varieties instead of just a pate. Little stinker!
He eats Nutro Natural Choice Indoor and a variety of the canned Nutro formulas that are sauce/gravy. They do make kitten food of course, in dry and wet. Chester has been on Nutro since he was 9 months old and has always done well with it. Every cat can be different though.

I hope you find what works for Sophie and her babies.

With cat food, you are pretty much going to get what you pay for. There are many good quality dry foods and you have to decide which works best for you and your cats. The ones I see most commonly recommended on here are Taste of the Wild, Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul, Wellness CORE, and Blue Wilderness for the mid to upper range of prices.

Canned food really is important for cats since they evolved to absorb most of their liquids through their food. Cats only rarely drink in the wild. If she has scoffed most canned food, I recommend trying soulistic. It's petco's house brand, and most finicky cats will eat it. Try the chicken, it's basically shredded chicken in some light chicken gravy. Most soulistic looks like actual human food put in a can, and I think that helped get my formerly all-dry boy Memphis eating more than half his diet canned now. He is still leery of most pate, but a can of soulistic opening turns him into a tuxedo torpedo.

I've personally found 'the best' depends greatly on the cat, there are many good foods that are recommended here but not all will work for every cat, i have found that through my own personal experience with mine.

For wet foods, trial and error .. i find some cats like a pate/loaf style, others like shredded/chunks.. or we have the gravy lovers

I use Royal Canin and Nutro for dry(each offer kitten formulas) I use fancy feast/friskies for wet choices.

Royal Canin hast too much grain, corn and gluten.
I use EVO and Natural Choice. They have high protein level, no grain and gluten, no by-products. My Bryan loves it. Check catfoodreviews_dot_com for dry food reviews.

Sophie is a huge water drinker. I sometimes catch her drinking out the toilet. And she gives me that face like "What I'm innocent." lol She is actually drinking water as we speak. I hope her babies are the same way. Does it say on the canned food if it's gravy or shredded?

Well while Royal Canin may not work for all cats, the formula(and brand) works wonderfully with mine. So i feel quite comfortable with my recommendation of it.

Some do, some do not. I have quite often shook a can to see how it is, the loaf/pate ones tend to not move about as much. On occasion the manufacturer website lists the consistancy of there wet foods to.

Chester isn't a toilet drinker but he does like to dip his paw in my husbands glass of water he keeps by the bed at night. My husband is not a fan of this AT ALL!

On all of the Nutro Canned foods (Natural Choice and Max Cat) they do say sauce or gravy. They have them listed on the Nutro website if you want to look at all of them.

We've tried all kinds of things from the grocery stores, as well as pet stores, but it looks like we finally settled on Wellness CORE for dry food and Wellness cans - not Core, but those colorful ones that come in 3oz sizes too.

I did a lot of research in order to find something that's not mostly corn and sugar of some sort and these seemed to fullfill all the requirements.

(Now we're working on figuring out the right quantities and such...

Best cat food for one isn't going to be the best for the next, I prefer canned and have tried a huge variety over the years, my cat loves and does best on Innova Evo chicken/turkey and Artemis chicken/turkey. Not as high quality but she loves the foster and smith kind, although not the gravy so much. I won't buy 3oz cans though, too costly, I get Evo and Felidae in the 12-13oz cans and any other brands in 5-6 oz and feed raw as well.

What kind of canned cat food have you tried? Cindy is very picky and I've finally caved in and am giving her Fancy Feast Classic. That one is pate. She also likes Soulistic with gravy, and a few other kinds that she'll eat. Lately I've given her some Natural Balance. What you have to do is buy like one can of a lot of differernt brands and see which of them she will eat.
