Our hot rod club went to a blacksmith shop in Grapevine, TX, after our meeting Saturday. The guy makes all sorts of artwork, but this is a video of him making a hummingbird out of a universal joint that came off one of our members' car. He used a 50 lb air hammer (forge), in addition to his usual tools.

Totally awesome - will have to show my son-in-law who is a blacksmith - he will love it.

Here's another video of him working. He was making an aspen leaf, which he gave to one of the women in our group. He makes a lot of leaves, which he uses in his decorative work.

That's fascinating! But I had no idea that a U-joint was so tiny! I imagined something more the size of a toaster. Are they all so small?
