My poor baby jumped into the bath yesterday and did a tiny wee. I kept an eye on her and she started going in the litter tray and squatting for ages, coming out for a few minutes and going back in. She also had a bit of a runny poo. I took her to the emergency vet, who checked her bladder, which was small, so empty. She took her temperature and checked her all over. She gave her an injection of antibiotics and anti inflammatories. She also has capsules to take, cystease. The vet said she's seen a lot of cats with cystitis recently as the weather has been so bad that they are staying in and holding in their pee.
Roxy has to take one capsule daily and go back next Saturday for a check up.
The vet advised me to take her dry food away, as she needs to get as much moisture in her as possible, and cats are notorious for not drinking much, so by feeding her more wet food she'll take on more moisture. She also recommended feeding her plain White fish to calm her belly. I poached some cod for her, which she's been eating, today I've had to mix in a tiny bit of her wet food with it to encourage her to eat it.
When will she feel better?
The vet said to still let her out, she is an indoor and outdoor cat, and going out makes her happy. I've been fussing her when she wants it, and brushing her too, which she loves. She's still spending quite a lot of time squatting. :-( I wish I could make her better instantly. How long does it take to calm down.
Is there anything else I can do? I've offered her cat milk too but she's not keen on it.
