Aw Sabrina, I'm so sorry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
With all you've had to face sweetie, I know this brings up all kinds of pain.
But it's the right thing for her, and when she's all healed up and in your lap purring, your heart will be singing again.

MEGA vibes to you and Lexi!

I'm so sorry you and Lexi are facing this; I would make the same choice you've made if it were one of mine.
Sending loads of healing to sweet Lexi, and a (((big hug)))to you, sweetie.

I'm sorry

Lots of vibes coming Lexi's way!!!

Mike has a kitty named "Trace" that is missing one of his hind legs. So Mike set up a station where he can still scratch his itches! Check out this video....too cute!

Lexi will do fine with 3 legs. Cats adapt very well. And you are helping to prevent the spread and to improve her quality of life for as long as possible. What you are doing is a good thing!

Thanks everyone!
Lexi sleeps with me each night like a person would and I don't know what I would do if she were no longer able to do so. Sometimes I think she is the only reason I can sleep at night.

My vet comes back on wednesday so I want to ask her a few questions before the surgery. I will keep you all posted on how it goes and how she is doing.

She has been on the couch with me tonight and always such a sweet girl.
She is the perfect cat.

My vet had to go out of town for a family emergency, but the other vet (we have 3) will be able to do the surgery on monday. She had planned to take tomorrow off, leaving only one vet at the clinic and I just don't want to do that to him. That is way to much for one person to do, plus see patients.

Since they are booked for friday - I will have her do it on monday.

Thinking of you, and keeping you and Lexi in my prayers.

If I was faced with the same situation, I wouldn't hesitate to make the exact same choice as you're making. Good luck to you and Lexi.

It seems unbearable to have to wait for this long. I know it is for the best, for her, to ensure the best quality of life, but each time I look at her - I hope she will understand. I know that many people try to place anthromorphism onto animals, which I do at times, but I can't help but feel that they do understand things that we may not think they can.

I know that out of all my cats she will be the one that can bounce back. She has already been through so much and I can't help but wonder why it is those that are the kindest and most loving that end up suffering with some horrible disease.

Sometimes I just don't really understand life.

Life truly doesn't seem fair sometimes but, as you said, Lexi will be the one to bounce back better than your other kitties.
Sendng loads of healing to your sweet girll, and a (((big hug))) to you, dear. Both you and Lexi will get thru this.

I am sorry she has cancer, but you are making the right decision, especially as it is the kind of cancer that has a slim chance of recurring. I have had to have a cats leg amputated (she had issues years after an RTA), and I was amazed at how quickly she bounced back and she could still escape from me even on 3 legs!! I have also been faced with a cat who probably had cancer in the knee and like you, amputation was the cure - unfortunately she had arthritic hips, so neither the vet nor the specialist would amputate as it would put too much pressure on her hips, but if she hadn't, I wouldn't have hesitated in agreeing, even though she would have found the recovery a lot more stressful, as it would have cured her cancer. I dont know how old Lexi is, but my two were 10+. Good luck for the op.

It sounds like you're doing the right thing for Lexi! Tripod cats always seem to me like they're perfectly healthy and happy cats- and the ones with the most spunk and determination! I hope everything goes well tomorrow, lots of
and to you and Lexi from Mackerel and I.

Hey, just something silly that might buck your spirits up a bit: this is the first result on youtube for 'three legged cat'. How cute! And clearly not being hampered at all by his missing leg.
