Tom has CRF.

Is he safe if he goes outside but I only give him his diet food?
I feel terrible that he has to stay in the garage which will get hot pretty soon.
If he were to be left outside, would the chances of surival be the same?
My problem is that I have Cronic Depression and anxiety. I am under medication and I sometimes don't get up early because of the meds.
I am depressed and anxious because he has to be inside.
I keep thinking that he might die if I keep him in the garage with the hot weather.
I also don't want him to get bored.
I live with my parents and my mom has never wanted pets to be indoors.
Thank you.

Having outdoor/farm kitties, I understand your concerns about keeping him shut in the garage - the heat could easily kill him.

I'm assuming there is no way you can bring him into the house & make him an indoor cat, from the way you worded your post?

I wouldn't be comfortable letting a CRF cat loose outdoors, or any cat w/ a health issue. Is there any way to build an outdoor enclosure where you live?

I'm looking at cat tents.
I had bought him a large kennel but he doesn't like it.
I see a tent that I like becuse it has a lot of room for him to walk for a bit.

Here is a link to the thread that has pictures/info on the outdoor enclosure I built for Squishy.

If you can gain access to a dog exercise pen & put a lid on it you can make a smaller enclosure, too. I have a couple of exercise pens I connected & put a lid on to give my indoor cats access to the outdoors.
