Cleaning computer monitor

What should I use to clean my computer monitor? It has little paw prints here and there and grandkids figerprints too. (and some of mine)

I know not to spray anything directly on the screen, but I don't want to ruin it.

Maybe then I will be able to see it better!!

I spray a glasses lens cleaner on a glasses cleaning cloth and wipe the screen. The cloth is soft enough that it won't damage the screen.

A simple homemade solution of rubbing alcohol and distilled water works and is far cheaper. It's also safe for LCD and LED screens. NEVER use a glass cleaner like windex on those types of screens because it will ruin them. Should you pull out your manual and read it that very information as well as cleaning instructions should be included in it.

A soft microfiber cleaning/dusting cloth (such as you can get back in the automotive section at walmart) works well.
It's it's an old CRT, then you don't have to worry. But most people have traded up from those now days.

I use lens cleaning wipes on my computer monitors.

I usually just dampen a tissue with a tiny bit of water and wipe it off.

I just have a little thumb sized mist spray w/ water, and just wipe with a microfiber cloth.

Cleaning your computer screen

If your display screen is dusty or you need to clean it for some other reason, use only water. Be careful not to use any cleaning products that may scratch or mar the display surface, especially if you are cleaning the screens of Apple portable computers and flat-panel monitors.

To clean your display screen:

  1. Turn off the computer or display. You may need to turn off the computer in order to turn off some Apple displays.
  2. Lightly dampen a clean, soft, lint-free cloth with water only. Do not spray liquid directly on the screen.
  3. Wipe the screen.

A little bit of water on a paper towel

I personally would use a lens cleaner since I don't feel water would remove grease/oils from fingers.

They sell a product just for LCD/plasma screens at Best Buy/Walmart called Philips Gel Cleaner for ten bucks and it will last forever. It comes with a microfiber cloth, like what you use for glasses. I just spray the screens lightly and wipe. Perfect finish...

Good advices!...

For dust I use a swiffer duster. For dirt and grime, just a plain damp cloth. When I had an old CRT monitor with a glass screen I used windex, but on the plasma style monitors it's best to just use a damp lint free cloth with water.
