This afternoon my new housemate moved in, with her furniture and... her cat's furniture. XD Her cat- called Mr. chicken- will be joining us in a few weeks when Mackerel's better, and we'll be taking their introduction VERY slowly so that it doesn't stress her out.

We figured the first step was to have Mr chicken's things lying around so that she can get a good whiff and get used to his scent.

She seems to very much like his scratching post. XD

Awwww.......! Taking the intorductions slowly is a good idea. In addition to Mr Chicken's furniture, can scent exchanges with a towel be done now and then? Where is Mr Chicken staying?

We're swapping towels tomorrow.
And I'm sending Mack's scratching post so Mr chicken can get that scratchy-scent as well, lol.

Mr chicken is staying with my housemate's Mum. He's been there about 6 months and very happy.

That is too cute! Wow, Mack looks great, looks like she's getting better and better every day. I hope things go well between her and Mr. Chicken.

I hope things go well too! Usually Mackerel doesn't do very well with other cats- it's not that she's aggressive, she's never bitten or scratched anyone or any cats (apart from me when I tried to medicate her the first time!) but when my ex-housemate's cat moved in she hissed and growled a little and then they avoided each other for a year, lol. I think part of that was because my ex housemate was a completely irresponsible pet owner and decided that she didn't want to do the slow introduction thing, so she basically threw them into the bathroom together the first time I went to work and when I got home it seemed pointless to seperate them again. XD -lesigh-

This time we're going to do things right!

The fact that she seems to like the scent on his scratching post is a really good start, I think. :-)
