Hello all,

My name is Julie and I am owned by 10 beloved kill shelter cats, all but one adopted while I was volunteering for the kill shelter (which is also why I had to stop, so haaaaard and unimaginable every day I walked in there.

I have 6 special needs cats; my cats' names are as follows:

Fuzz "Black-Toe" (Healthy DSH Black & White Tuxedo)

Beijo "Belly-Button-Tender-Heart" (Healthy DSH Mackeral Tabby)

Autumn "Sits-With-Tiny-Paws" (Hypercalcemic DSH/Tortie-Abbysinnian)

Graciela "Who-Makes-Blanket-Breathe" (Hyperthyroid DSH Black & White)

Jules-Verne "Moon-Diamond-Happy-Prancer" (Allergies - Lilac Pt. Siamese)

Marilia "With-Courage-And-Strength" (Previously Abused/Brown Mackeral Tabby)

Squint-Delicous "Whooper-Sneaker" (Seizures and had double upper eyelid agenesis surgery on both eyes, lots of meds! DSH Classic Brown Tabby

Tiny Dancer "The-Baker-Man" (Radial Hypoplasia, DMH Big Orange Ball of Love)

Chief Joseph "He-Who-Yawns-With-Cavernous-Mouth" (Asthma/Seal Pt. Siamese. Adopted literally 15 minutes before they were to euthanize him because he was 9 and it was an overflowing (as usual) kitten season).

Chief Red Cloud "He-Who-Stands-Firm" (Healthy Extreme Flat Faced Red-Point Himalayan w/the normal tear-duct issues)

This is my family and my reason for breathing; they each are the loves of my life. (10 hearts) :o)

Wow! Welcome to the forums Julie!
That's tremendous of you to give 10 cats a home - especially those that were in that kill-shelter. I love the nicknames you have for each of them. Please post pictures of your babies when you get a chance!

Welcome to TCS Julie! I volunteered (more then, less now but still volunteer) with a kill humane society in a rural area here - we do everything in our power to avoid euthanizing cuz we're a bunch of saps.

That said, I have 12 cats in my house right now, w/ 6 outdoor/farm cats (all S/N of course). I too kept taking home cats who would've been euthanized. The closest any of mine came was Squishy who was going to be euthanized the next morning. A couple of mine are special needs as well (or seniors). Just because they aren't purrfect (says who?!) doesn't mean they don't deserve a loving home!

I look forward to pictures of all your babies!

Thanks for the welcome you guys!! I'm so happy to be here!

I am trying to figure out where pictures go (but will do it tomorrow 'cause I'm pooped (good thing I'm home all day to care for these bundles of love!)

Yeah, at our kill shelter (they say we "have" to call it either Animal Services or the "shelter", but don't use the word "kill"), we have a bunch of volunteers with LOTS of cats! I pay for the Permit, they come inspect once or twice a year (surprise visits) and this last time he said "Did someone tip you off I was coming?" lol I said nope, just keeping up with my kitty chores!

I look forward to posting the pictures once I figure out how, I have to write to Pami to find out how. Also an Avatar of one of my cats and I can switch. (I have literally thousands of pictures {{{sigh}}} all out of order because I never read the camera manual to figure out how to fix the date!

Again, thanks sooooooo much for the warm welcome! I . . . er, WE, truly appreciate it!!

Warmly,

Julie O'

I understand why they can't call it a kill shelter... and also why the volunteers have so many cats!

To post pictures on the forums you can make a free account on either www.photobucket.com or www.tinypic.com (image hosting websites) and you can upload your pictures there. Once they are uploaded you should copy (ctrl + c) and paste (ctrl + v) the IMG code into the message body of your post. You can preview your posts to make sure nothing went awry.

In order to change your avatar you will need "700 posts and 120 days in membership"
All About TCS Member Titles & Perks
But you can access the "Your Cats" page soon! (You can see pictures of cats next to members' names and read the profile of each cat)

This is the "Fur Pictures and Videos Only" section of the forums. You could post the pictures of your furbabies there!

Can't wait to see your pictures!

Cheers,
April

Hey April and Kailie!

Thanks SO much for letting me know about putting pictures up! I do have a Photobucket with about 72 pages. . . I think I should be able to come up with one of each of my cats, lol!

And Kailie! The mighty ten! Awesome! Maybe our cats could get together for a "play date" soon! LOL (imagine!)

Okay, so once you put the pictures in your posting, do they stay in all postings from then on? Or do I need to wait for that, too? (I didn't know I had messages here, I thought I marked to e-mail me for new messages - glad I checked back here!) :-D

Yeaaaaah, happy to be here! Thanks so much for all your help!

I wish I could put my "Cat Picture Identifier" up as it has great pictures of all my cats on one page (and also have a "Cat Information Sheet" all in one document, and separate ones for each with all their information on 10 separate sheets for their "Friends for Life" program in case something happens to me).

Warmly,

Julie O' and puddy-tats

Welcome to tcs! I'm very impressed! Ten cats you rescued! Thank you! You're wonderful!

I volunteer at a no-kill (very, very, very low-kill) shelter, and I don't think there is any excuse of the other kind. Should be outlawed. I have 5 cats I took home from there. The longest any cat has been there is 4 years, and he just got adopted!

I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of your 10.

Dear Julie,

They will only stay on the post that you have put on for your reply.

If you wish to have a signature [you can see mine with my sleeping cat on the pink blanket], you can make one and upload it on your User CP (control panel.)
From there click "Edit Signature"
Choose the image you wish to be permanent with you and then you can have it with every post you have.

Let me know if you need any more help!

Hi Julie welcome to our wonderful cat loving site. You are a cat guardian and can't wait to see pictures of your furbabies. It is like a full time job caring for so many furbabies. I, too, do some volunteering at a shelter and know how hard it is to see so many cats that need rescuing! Can't wait to hear more on your daily life with your ten kitties!

Hi Kailie,

How do you get the ten cats into the signature like you have? Mine will only put up 6, but I also see that you have a theme.

Any way you would be willing to enlighten my tiny bean-brain as to how to get all ten of my cats up as yours are? (I swear to use a different theme! :-D

Warmly, Julie O'

Thanks to all of you sooooooo much!
It is soooooooo nice to feel sooooooooo welcomed here! Finally, a place to share experiences about our cats where I feel comfortable.

I'm trying to figure out how to get all 10 of my cats in my signature, it's only showing 6, so I'll be on for a few if anyone's here.

What a great site! Thank you again!!

Much warmth,

Julie O' and da puddy-tats!

Thank youuuuuuuuuuu! :-D

I tried to set up a signature likes yours, but it just comes out with one blurry picture of my cat (didn't realize it was so blurry, either.. drrrrr), but I have 10 cats - I tried the signature page thing, put up the URL's today.

Again, your welcome is deeply appreciated!
