Pumpkin started getting fleas about 2 weeks ago,,,wasnt sure but I can see them. I want to go to the vet tomorrow. What should I expect..he never had them before. He is an indoor cat. Someone else said I should balm my house while he is at the vet. Is that a good thing to do?Any other suggestions would be appreciated. I'm starting to get bitten too...LOL
Thanks in advance!

Ask the vet for a spot-on treatment. Revolution is one of my favorites because it also treats ear mites and intestinal worms. It shouldn't be necessary to actually take your cat in to get flea meds, but if it's time for a checkup anyway you might as well.

If the flea infestation has gotten really bad, a flea bomb for the house may be necessary. If it's not that bad yet, you might not need to bomb. Vacuum a lot. Putting borax or salt down before you vacuum can also help. There are flea powders for carpets that may be a good idea.

Fleas aren't a big deal. Just get some flea meds and they should be gone. It's best to get on top of the situation before the fleas get too populated. Don't overdo it with the flea treatments, though, or you could poison yourself and your cat!

I would highly suggest buying a Capstar (pill) from your vet, it works within 30 minutes to kill fleas and their larvae. Then, no sooner than 24 hours later, follow up with Frontline Plus, kills ticks and fleas (please im me if you ever find ticks, there is a specific way to get them out safely). A cat I took to emergency vet (that I took from another neglectful foster) gave me this advice; well, she gave Tiny Dancer the Capstar and I followed up with the Frontline Plus 24 hours later. No fleas since. I have a flea-free house (eeeeeeeee, they and any bugs give me the heebee-jeebee's) (sp?, lol). All 10 of my cats are indoor only.

Warmly,

Thanks..I just got the Capstar pill from my vet. Now, how do I get Pumpkin to take it. I tried gentle force putting it in his mouth, mixing it in with his food....but he is too smart for me. Any suggestions?
