I was wondering if I am the only one here who thoroughly inspects their kitties' poops?

Sounds gross and extremely "cat lady like" behavior if I ever say this outside of TCS, but with all the health scares I have gone through lately, I find myself inspecting their poop pretty closely
- I mean, after over 4 months of diarrhea with Bugsy, a blockage with Lucky, and hairballs nightmares, I just can't help it!
I check to see if there is hair, if it is firm, if it is in one piece or cow pie.... am I poop obsessed?

You are just doing your best to catch early signs of any problems. In other words, a good mom.

I check Simba's poop as well (and I have my mom check too when I'm not there) because he's still on the food that he was eating at the shelter. Fortunately, he's fine on it but once it's almost done I would like to switch him to something better. Then I will be checking to be sure he's doing ok on that.

I do this alot with my ferrets. It's the quickest way to get a snapshot of their health and they're so little you have to really keep your eyes open because they can go downhill fast..even if it's just a little bug they have.
If my cats are ill and poop is part of the symptoms I certainly look thru it more and if I suspect worms I've even put it in a freezer bag so i could mash it around thru the plastic to see if anything's in there. Gross, I know. This is coming from a person whose boyfriend doesn't flinch anymore if he sees me picking thru ferret poop with a qtip under a light

The cats I do it less though, only if their health seems compromised--then yes I will be rolling up my sleeves and getting the freezer bags out *groan*
But if they seem fine I just give it a quick glance while scooping the box

I am laughing because only on this site would I ever admit to doing the same thing and all the time. And more so lately because of some loose poop issues again and I need to find out who it is. So I follow them when they are heading in the direction of the box. If they go in, I just turn and pretend I am doing something else while they do their business
. I just think we have to be diligent poop patrol meowmies when you have more cats so we know who is pooping what
so you are in good company here for sure

I am a pooper inspector as well. I have a litter robot, and I supervise each cycle sifting out the pees and poos. If I suspect an odd one, I will remove it for further analysis from the bin drawer. Luckily, I have not had to do this.

I know!!!

I'm always inspecting it as i'm scouping
When Rosie damaged her tail a couple of weeks ago i followed her around watching and waiting to see her poop after she'd had the vet visit, but luckily she spent most of the time on my bed resting so i put the litterbox on there for her.

I had a brilliant view!!

We do with Midnight, since he started out with so much tummy troubles.
