She leans into those head rubs. But she will be going to the vet on Monday as she is filling up the litter pans with pee. I am hoping it doesn't mean her kidney's are failing. She could have Diabetes, or she could have Cushings, the blood work (if she is strong enough to have it drawn) will hold the answer.
Here she is today getting her daily rub-

I saw the good news and the bad news in your blog, MA. I'm delighted to hear she's got so much life in her! I am sorry about the pee. it's "just" diabetes....

This is SO exciting!!!

http://catblogosphereauctions.blogspot.com/

On 03/11 We will have a very special event at the cat Blogosphere, a fund raising auction for our "Shared heart Kitty" Shell.
This event will be at least 2-weeks long, but we are thinking three! It will be an spectacular Auction, with items for everybody - I mean, really - AMAZING items. I have seen many auctions, but I can tell you, this one will be a one of a kind!

Please join us in helping MA giving this little sweetheart every chance in life she deserves. She didn't have anything for her first years in life, but she has a chance now. Her eyes are full of life, and her heart holds the strength and the will to live of a lion. She is such a fighter shaped as a special, tiny, sweet little girl. But all of you who are following MA's blog and her story already know that!

Right now the Blogosphere is running an auction for Bugsy and Gracie, which will end March 10th at midnight. A minute later Shell's Auction starts.

To access her auction (live March 11th), click on the link or on the picture above.
Hope to see you there!

We just got back and if I am rambling, I guess just let me ramble. He couldn't aspirate any urine from her because he said her bladder is about the size of a shriveled up walnut- which is alarming based on how much she is peeing in the boxes. He did take blood, and will test for Diabetes, toxins and see how her kidney values are doing. The results will be back no later than Weds. I asked him if she was crashing- but he doesn't think so based on what I am telling him, about how she is active, eating, drinking, wanting to be petted (although right now, she is under the bed because it was a stressful visit.

Her oral issues remain severe. He had hoped she would have responded better to the depo shot, but he doesn't want to move on her further until the bloodwork is in his hands and he can see for himself if she is failing. He gave me an antibiotic for her cough and sneezing and told me to keep up the work. She has only gained 1/4 of a pound since he saw her last, but at least she isn't losing.

Here are some photos I snapped of her while she was being poked, prodded and tested.

She still has the rodent ulcers but some have reduced down in size, he is still concerned about the one under her tongue and the one on the side of her gums- plus the ulcerated tissue in the back of the throat. As you can see, this sweet girl only has two teeth left.

Hi MA!
Poor little girl... I guess all we can do is wait until Wednesday for the results... I gotta say though... She looks SO much better then when she first arrived at your place
No doubt she is getting better... I am sure with the amount of troubles she had, her road for recovery will be a long one and full of ups and downs... I am confident she will continue to do well though... What I see now is pretty impressive.
The second picture, of her mouth, is a classic picture of a severe case of LPS stomatitis. I wish you were in Dallas to go to Dr. Wiggs clinic - they would fix that mouth... They are brilliant in what they do. Dr. Wiggs was a pioneer and considered by many the "Father of Veterinary Dentistry", his specialty was LPS Stomatitis. He developed a cutting edge treatment that has been used in thousand of cats with tremendous success... He died in the end of 09, but his clinic carries through his legacy and treatment - it is fabulous... Been a life saver for Bugsy. His mouth went from level 3 stomatitis, REALLY bad, to slight gingivitis. Here is Dr. Wiggs brief Bio: http://avdc.org/Bob_Wiggs.pdf
Ok, Actually, change of plans....
I took the liberty to call them... They can work with your vet and do the treatment together. long distance, shipping the meds over to you. The meds cost only about $35 a month, and as I said, it has been a life-saver for Bugsy's stomatitis. They do treat other kitties over the country, and have a protocol for that to happen - I will be happy to put you in contact with them if you PM me. I really really think it will be your best bet to take care of her lesions/stomatitis. This treatment has bee used in over 6,000 cats, it is nothing new, but it is a proprietary formula, so your vet would need to work closely with them. I hope this can help your little girl... and I hope the tests Wednesday come back clear...
Love and vibes

Well a quarter lb is better than loosing a quarter lb. I have to agree she looks better. Her poor little mouth..hopefully you can get started on that treatment Carolina is talking about.

I believe body language tells volumes. And from what you say, hers is pretty good. She is interested in things. And that's always good.

You are going through so much. Take care of yourself. We are rooting for you!

Thank you for the offer and of course I will consider doing so if my vet is willing to work with them- and I am sure he will be. I don't want to do anything right now until we see where we stand with the bloodwork. If her kidneys are indeed shutting down or if there are some sort of toxins in her blood, whatever is going on, we need to know this first before going any further with her. I will know in a few days and will proceed from there. But thank you-

Also, thank you ALL of you, I reached my quota on the chipIn and will be shutting it down now. If there is still interest in chipping in for her- my website www.kitten-rescue.com has a button for that.

Also anyone wanting to check out her auction on the 11th , please do so- there are so many wonderful items donated by loving cat industry people- that they simply blew me away in the offerings! Autographed cat books, cat furniture, jewelry, treats, beds and more, it's all there and all donated out of love for this wonderful kitty! I am pulling for Shell. I can't even explain our connection. But we have bonded in a way I have never bonded with another cat in my life.

IHer kidney and liver values are within normal range. Her blood, urine, nitrogen same.

Here's where we get into trouble

WBC 19,000 (this is FIP Danger Zone)
Gobulin 8.9 (should be 2)
Total Protein 11.4

He doesn't want to give up on her or give into the diagnosis that it is FIP and neither do I. But that is what this is leaning to- either that or some form of malignant cancer. It is something she is fighting, it is chronic and it is zapping her daily. He is open to work with the vet clinic in Texas (I have a friend of mine who lives not far from there checking it out now) but he said that it could be that the values are off because of the mess in her mouth. He wants me to bring her in on Weds and give her two more shots- one long-term antibiotic and one cortisone and see if that might help her mouth. Then he wants to wait a week and re-run the bloodwork.

Poor Shell, I don't think she is in pain and neither does Dr. Steve. I am going to go in and talk to her now and see what she wants. I still see the fight in her- that awesome tortitude- but to ask her to suffer further- is that right of me to do so? I want to be sure she wants to continue. I would really like her to have a chance to finally have a life, but it is up to her.

I hope that the high wbc is just down to her mouth and i can't remember what globulin and protein are symptoms of. I don't think giving her an extra week is too much asYou will know if she is unhappy in that time. I truly hope that it is something she can either beat or have a lot of quality time with. Give her a gentle fuss from me.
