I don't know how to put into words my feelings for this sweet lady.

You are certainly an angel for the kitties. This is just so moving.

Prayers going up.

My heart still breaks for her. She looks so fragile. She must have such a strong soul, though, to withstand everything and still have the will to live. What a special kitty she is.

What a strong little girl!

Her eyes really strike me - she's still in there and not giving up.
Lots of that the depo helps with those ulcers and she keeps doing better.

Oh MA you are truly a cat guardian, caring for so many. Shell seems to be thriving compared to a few days ago. This story is an inspiration to what love and care can do to bring a cat back to life, so to speak. I am sorry about the ringworm kittens!! Now what? how will you treat them. I am curious because Pixie has ringworm at the shelter now and I want to bring her home because she is so sick with multiple issues. I will keep reading your updates and if you speak of a ringworm regime there. for shell baby and you MA

I have proclaimed today to be Shell Day on my blog. She is an amazing kitty!

About the ringworm, the only thing I can do is isolate the ones together in one room that have it. It is an opportunistic fungus. Treat them with the medicine I got from the vet and let it run its course. I've had ringworm twice so I won't get it again. I have built up an immunity to it.

I wish this were true, but it's not.

Ringworm immunity

Some people are much more resistant to it, but you can't be immune to it, any more than you can be immune to athlete's foot.

God knows she will need it! Just her first vet bill was $300 and she has many ahead of her on her road for a healthier life... Thank you so much you guys, you are AWESOME!

It can be more! We can all post it onto facebook - you go to Shell's ChipIn page and click on the facebook logo - I think they have other means to sharing too. If you have a Blog or website, you can add the Widget to your sidebar - I did it to mine, and it is really easy! We can email friends and such... Be on the look out! Soon there will be new and exciting ways to help Shell!

Awesome! She sure deserves this little girl! Such a fighter! Her progress gives me the fuzzies to watch
... And MA... Oh, how much she deserves too, taking care of all those kitties! Shell will have a very long road for recovery, but I have faith she will make it

Without meaning to cross any lines (and I do hope I'm not with this question...) but is anything going to happen with the previous "human" who was supposed to care for Shell? I read on the blog that there were other cats with her who seemed to be somewhat taken care of. I know we don't know WHY Shell was treated this way - but I'm wondering if there are going to be any investigations into the woman who did treat her this way to make sure it doesn't happen to another cat?

Again - if this is crossing the line, or not something that should be discussed publically - I apologize. I just am so affected by Shell, like so many others and have been wondering this since reading the blogs about her.

So darn happy that Shell is making it day by day. Just amazing to me this story is. I can tell, Ma, that she has taken up a special place in your heart, just the way you are "blogging" about her. I think of her and you alot each day and can't wait to read the next days news on Shell. She certainly has a spirit above most cats in her predicament and how she survived her terrible ordeal in that trailer is beyond belief. For you and Shell tonight

the woman isn't right in her head, and for some reason Shell is the only one of the group that wasn't being cared for. Without knowing fully all of the details, it is possible that Shell was injured and couldn't eat, or the other cats bothered her and ran her off, or she has had these rodent ulcers for a long time and you can't really eat with huge water type like blisters in your mouth.

One of my customers at the store told me about these cats and at first I didn't want to get involved. Then I got with another rescuer in the area and she went over to the woman's house and got all of the six cats. Then she called me and when I saw Shell, I knew I had to take her. I do like this rescuer, but she can get in over her head and Shell was inside a small carrier with only a litter pan as a bed. Not a good situation, so I took her. On the way home, I told Shell that I had stopped rescuing
But I don't think she believed me!
