My cat buster has kidney problems. I administer liquids every other day. He is doing good except for his head shaking. I have been to several vets who say he does not have ear mites or excessive wax. I have not idea what to do. I feal bad for him. Does anyone have any ideas. I am limited as to what I can give him do to his kidneys. Please help.

Is is shaking like tremors or shaking like his ears are irritated? Is the weather changing where you live? When was the last time his blood was checked?

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
And they've checked for an infection? That's the most common reason for head shaking.

Do you use a spray bottle to discipline him?

Have you used a spray anything recently - an air sanitizer, a new scented spritzy something? Could be an allergic reaction to something in the air irritating him?
Did it start with a new lotion you're using or a new perfume or anything you can think of? Because if the problem isn't in his ears or on his head, it's got to be in the environment... (I'm thinking, anyway.... )

Does his head shake all the time or just sometimes?

Does any other part of his body shake? Do you ever see twitching or shaking to any other part of his body? (I ask because I've read that in cats with kidney problems (aka kidney failure, or chronic kidney failure or "CRF") that twitching and shaking can be caused by high phosphorus levels in the blood....and head twitching can be caused by calcium levels in the blood that are out of whack. Here's an article from a very reputable site for owners of cats with kidney disease (it's a great resource) and it explains all of the possible causes for twitching/shaking in cats with kidney disease:

http://www.felinecrf.org/phosphorus.htm#twitching

Has your cat had bloodwork recently to check levels of potassium, calcium, phosphorus, etc? If not, would be a good idea.
