My family had outside cats while I was growing up. My ex and I started keeping indoor-only cats late in college.
My current residents are an 8yo male, Vlad, whom I've had since he was 5 weeks old; and a 3.5yo female, Paks, whom I've had since she was ~6 weeks old. I found Paks on my dad's farm with a broken rear leg, took the gamble and had the leg amputated (vet said ~50% chance she'd survive and recover, as it was not a fresh break and she was so young), and I've been repaid with tons of affection since.
